hey guys, i was planning on doing a DWC Hydro setup since i know how to do it, problem is i am going to be starting my mothers off in soil and keeping them in soil and i am clueless about soils. So i'll show you what i puchased to start my mother plants and if anyone has some advice regardless how basic please post it. will help me out in the long run. My problem is i live in a hick town so no hydro stores and i can't puchase a bit of stuff off the internet at a time because i get free shipping if the cost is over 750$ for one order. so, i am going to hold off on that till the money is available but i want to get mother plants up and running so i can take clones and have them rooted and ready. What kind of food should i be buying my mother plants? note: miracle grow seems to be the only stuff around here.
Looks like you're off to a good start with that mix. I'd go 1/3 paralite with the starter mix. Food wise... I've never used miracle grow but I wouldnt recommend it for a grow but if it's just your mother I couldn't imagine it being bad, as there is no flowering cycle. Any chance you can get some Base nutes? Maybe a three or two part line up from general hydroponics or advanced nutrients? I know advanced makes a formula specifically for mothers. I'm not a huge 420 magazine fan but I picked one up a while back and the advertising can give you a good idea of what's out there Good luck! I'm not sure if that helps much
Its all helping, so 1/3 perlite to soil even for when the bean just pops? or should i use just 100% of the starter mix then transplant into 1/3 perlite mix? Base nutes are gonna be out of the question unfortunately for a while more. as its only a mother plant i was hoping for a cheap solution. This is not a permanent thing, i have AN's basenute line and the expert bundle coming with the rest of the required materials to make my room. just prefer if i can keep my mothers alive and happy on something cheap and local then i woudn't burn through AN's more expensive line... unless if the mother plant grows slowly due to poor conditions... that wouldn't effect a clone taken and put into ideal conditions would it?
yes use the perlite when germinating. Since it's just a mother, and you have no access to a hydro store, basically ant tomato plant food will work for you. Not ideal, but should work just fine for you.
