  1. i dont consider myself a guitar player, since im still learning, i started learnign in like, 8th grade. then i just stopped paying any attention to it.
    i went through that teenage "i dont give a fudge" phase.
    but lateley im getting back into it, so that way i have something i can at least try and build a passion for.

    i can read tablature, and play basic songs.(think super mario theme song. lol)
    and ive also been studying a bit of music theory on and off, so i can get a better understanding of that.

    so what i wanna know is..... anyone got any tips?
    any good suggestions for practicing without picking up sloppy habits? ive already got some sloppy habits, so im working on correcting those.

  2. Learn some techniques as you progress, start incorporating those techniques into songs;

    Learn some scales, its a good way to learn how to form your own songs;

    Try making up your own songs, ..although i like playing other songs, you should develop your own style.

    Learn to finger pick, ive been playing for almost 3 years, and i can do just about any technique except for that, and sweep picking

  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6rgHLM8rcE]Katy Perry Firework Guitar ( instrumental / cover ) - YouTube[/ame] thats me :) yes, there are some strumming blades :) seems like not enough thouhg.. :/

    the best advice i can think of is to play towards what you want to hear, plain and simple. learn the minor pentatonic and blues scales - very easy but it will really help you start playing lead.

  4. Learn your pentatonic scales. That is all.

    I've been playing lead guitar since I was 13 and I'm a phenomenal blues guitarist but I can't play rhythm outside of some sort of band structure. Never been able to.
