any good soil recipes?

  1. Anyone have a good soil recipe? In the past I have used MiracleGro potting soil with good results. Decided to go with a fertilizerless soil with additional perlite this time but it seems really loose. I try to keep things organic. Any suggestions on fertilizer and schedule would be helpful too.

  2. Ive always like guano in its differnt forms. I have used a few differnt batches one for Veg & one for Flowering. Almost give your buds a fruity taste & wont burn roots. Just my expierience, if you can find it at your grow store. ;)

  3. Thanks. I'll give anything a shot once!

  4. ICK,
do you have to add the guano with the mix or dress the top of the soil with it?

  5. i have moved to an organic grow...

    25% vermiculite
    25% perlite
    30% promix
    20% worm castings

feed with Earth Juice veg or flower every watering....

    its been doing great.

    simple but slightly expensive.

  6. How about cocopeat soil?
It holds more air and moisture for the roots.
All you do is add nutes from time to time and watering them will not have to be daily because this soil stay moist longer than normal soil.
One benefit is that when your plants are done and you haven't had any diseases or pests you can use the soil again for a new crop.
Also normal soil tends to disappear due to micro organisms, coco soil has minimum loss.
It's also more sterile and has a good PH level.
Search the internet and educate yourself on this growmedium.
It could be what you're looking for.

  7. that's funny that u bring that up Misty.

my water =7.4 pH because of the area that i live in. its pretty consistantly that pH. i was gonna try some cocopeat in my next batch grow to balance out the hi pH of my tap water.

but i have not heard of ppl growing in 100% cocopeat, unless hydro.

    do u?

  8. I started in seedling soil with normal peatpots.
I put them in the cocosoil, but my next grow will be completely coco.
You can also buy cocobricks put them in water and you make your own cocosoil.
    Lightweight and easier to store.
    Great stuff!
All you need is water and nutes...

  9. My mix is for those of us who either like the bare essentials or can't afford anything better...Basically It's ur run of the mill "Potting Soil" with Styrafoam mixed it (20%) or so...I usually take the knife to the styrafoam and chop it up in to centimeter cubes (or smaller...It works well for keeping nice airy soil, doesn't let the soil compact as normal soil does when saturated with water. Oh yeah and Styrafoam is inert which means it won't effect your soil in anyway...

  10. thats me too

  11. thanks for the knowledge guys and gal(s)! Never heard of the sfoam trick.
