I'm on verizon and am looking into getting a tablet. My choices are between the Motorola Xoom, or the Samsuung Galaxy Tab. I was wondering if anybody has either of these devices and could shed some light on the pros and cons?
Lol I coulda guessed. Don't really want to wait. And they're gonna be pricey when they come out. I can get the current one for $199 with the data plan (just added on to my current bill).
Ok so, on the galaxy tab, its the same version of android that's on our phones. Well my phone. But that's good because you might already be used to it and there's a lot of apps now. The xoom has a version of android designed for tablets. But since its pretty new there aren't a lot of good apps or games. Its also really slow unless you root and overclock, which you should do anyway.
Well if your talking about the 7 inch galaxy get the xoom. If your talking about the 10 inch galaxy get the galaxy. Simple as that. And if you dont wanna go the verizon route get the eee pad. If your patient enough wait until october; they should be releasing the eee pad 2 which will have the tegra 3. Whatever you do. Dont buy an ipad. Unless you like letting other people decide how you should use your equipment.
Your anti-apple stance and your username go together pretty well too. It's pretty laughable when people try to make the iPad seem inferior to other tabs, before the iPad NO ONE used tablets. After Apple revolutionized that part of the industry, every tech company and their grandmother was scrambling to make their own. The iPad has 95% of the market share because it's undisputedly the best tablet. How Android Tablets Got Eaten Alive by the iPad
Weakest argument ever. Show me what the iOS can do that the android OS cant do. And in return I will GLADLY show you what android can do that iOS wont be able to do in its current state, if ever. Right off the bat Android can display flash websites in full detail. iOS doesnt do that. What about widgets? Or voice control? All the different types of customizations (custom ROMS and keyboard, live wallpapers)? Does iOS do that? Nope. You also dont HAVE to use itunes to sync your tablet with your PC on android. You can use anything you damned please. It also does multi tabbed browsing and multitasking which is very smooth in honeycomb. User serviceable, removable storage and battery for most android tablets (if not all, but im not about to check). Googles cloud storage and syncing services are also far superior and offer more services than the iCloud. "Oh man it has a retina display" PFFT Lets not forget their childish PG 13 and under only content in their app store. Or the fact that they rip off their customers and app developers. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/08/apple_copies_rejected_app/
Come back to me when the dozens of Android powered tablets have a bigger market share than the two iPads.
Apple is about being cool. Thats why so many people buy them. They're hipsters. It is NOT because they are better machines. Sorry.
wayyyyyyy Better battery, better os, better build quality, very good price, more apps, jailbreakable which means free apps with ease. Need I say more???? Icloud, and the ipad 3 is coming this fall.
The numbers speak for themselves buddy. And by the way, we're talking about the iPad, not iOS, and not Apple as a company, those other two are a whoooole other discussion which we don't want to hijack the thread with. Bottom line OP, the iPad is the king of tablets for good reason. But when it comes down to it, it's your money so you just gotta do lots of research and find out which one is best for you.
Without Apple and the iOS the iPad is nothing but a paperweight. Therefore your argument is invalid. And @ LilTuneChi - Android devices can be rooted (jailbroken) which will get you free apps and free wireless tethering. Thats not an advantage the iOS has over android. Its a feature they both have in common.
I said that because you seemed to be segueing the discussion from the iPad alone, to the broader spectrum of iOS and Apple as a company. And jailbroken iDevices can do basically everything an android device can do. Oh wait except Flash... I might not be able to go on living with no Flash support
Its not a difficult thing to support. Thts what makes the ipad inferior. The fact that they CHOOSE to leave out fetures available on other platforms/OSs. You lose again Apple cant, wont, and will never be "better". atleast from a technical standpoint. From an aesthetic standpoint... ok sure you can have that one. But do you buy your devices to use them, or look at them?
