Anxiety / Panic Attacks

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by kcsov6, Sep 22, 2011.

  1. I have been on Zoloft for a few years for depression, but it does nothing for when I have anxiety or panick attacks. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good strain? I live in southeast Ky so if anyone knows any strain native to the area that would help. We unfortunately haven't legalized medical marijuana or I would just get a script n ask at a dispensary.
I wouldn't bother with this question, but in my area its mostly just "weed", no one knows the strains and I have ran into some that actually smoking made my anxiety worse

  2. Well, guess what, unless you grew the weed yourself, buy it from a medical dispensary, or have a friend that actually lets you see his grow area, then there is no way to know what strain your smoking.

All the idiots who believe black market drug dealers when they tell them the weed they're selling is x strain, are well, idiots.

I mean really, if your buying weed from some dealer, and he just keeps talking like a inbred moron, saying shit like "Yo dawg hit me up, I got that kush, dro, sour D, ya". And you actually believe him, your a fucking idiot yourself.

Half the people who believe black market drug dealers "strains" are legit, also believe "dro" is a actual strain of cannabis, IE. Case in point, they're idiots.

  3. Ah the dealers from around here only ever call anything kush, they're all hustlers and amateurs, that's why I don't trust em.

  4. 1. You did not give much info but for starters why not move to a friendlier state with medical cannabis?

    2. I know exactly what you are feeling and it is no picnic. I have to tell you there is a distinct possibility your anxiety and depression may actually be agoraphobia and in that case you need to see a therapist that specialists in treating phobias. Most therapists think they can deal with phobias and they are full of shit. One on one and talk therapy won't touch phobias...neither will most drugs. I say that from experience having dealt with panic attacks for most of my life and paid thousands to various shrinks and docs. I got drugs, I got one on one and group therapy but no relief...started to think I was actually a lost case. Then I found a phobia specialist and wham...completely off drugs and no more panic attacks in a matter of a few months.

I wish you well...and you will be, hang in there.

  5. Best thing to do is to purchase a couple different strains of sativa. Get the good stuff, and vape it. If you are really looking for medicinal purpose then this is what I did.

    I researched a lot.
Bought the Magic Flight Launch Box and power adapter
    Bought a couple different strains
Noticed Indica helps me more for anxiety than sativa
    Sativa heavy strains created anxiety.

Your body is your body and different strains will react differently. Try a couple different good kinds. Try before you buy even. The whole sativa and indica thing is confusing because I read that strawberry cough is best for anxiety yet its a sativa heavy. I've read sativa is best for anxiety yet heard its the worst for anxiety. I've been off anti-depressants and anxiety meds for over 4 months now thanks to finding the right strain.

  6. I never thought about that. I guess I could just grow my own strain (I had just been growing bag seeds)

  7. I think you said it well when you say that everyone will react differently to different strains. I agree that the OP should get some good sativa or sativa dominant hybrid meds (my wife who suffers from a panic disorder prefers hybrids during the AM) and vape away! Start SLOW though! Get to know the vape and the med your using.

I'd seriously suggest investing in a better starter vape than a MLFB. Nothing against the MLFB; I actually own one and use it almost daily, it's just not my primary vape. It's easy to use but TOUGH to master. You'd do better starting with something like a Extreme Q ($150) or a SSV ($189).

Peace to you bro. BIG kudos for the decision to natural!

  8. Pot may actually INCREASE your anxiety/panic attacks. Personally I would not recommend it. Deal with the anxiety first by reducing it. Exercise, walk, sleep regular hours, avoid excessive coffee and cigarettes, take a hot bath before going to bed, eat well, avoid sugars, etc. Pot is GREAT when you have a healthy mind.

  9. Whatever you get stay away from sativas they give an upper high so your anxiety can get worse , i actually have the same problem but i live in california thanx goodness and in a place full of medical MJ dispensary, if you try one try a a pure indica or an indica dominant hybrid

  10. Get off the zoloft! (Through your doctor)

From my personal experience I only have these issues if I dont have a life, and dont get some physical work in.

Medicating your way out of this is the wrong approach unless there is a physical problem in your body the meds fix in some way. Psycho-pharmacology is complete insanity, essentially you are a lab rat for these doctors. Also the long term side effects of these types of drugs are unknown and if history is any teacher it wont be long before they find a really nasty long term side effect from Zoloft.

    As to the weed
Try differend strains till you find one that flattens you. Then grow that one. Avoid the premature and high THC content stuff as it can cause initial anxiety and a increase in heart rate. Extracts may be a better option but avoid the pure THC version as it can causes a minor panic attack when smoked.

    Best of luck to ya:wave:
