Antivirus program?

  1. I recently just some trojans and possible some viruses. I got avast and it ain't doing shit and also ad-aware se professional and it hasn't gotten rid of them. Anyone reccomend me to a program that can get rid of trojans and viruses that is like free or some shit. Don't want to reformat my pc that would suck :(

  2. EDIT:

Ok use system restore to like a week or so ago.

  3. Get spybot search and destroy, ad aware, Avast antivirus and DELETE avast you cannot have 2 anti viruses running.

Also download Ccleaner, it's short for crap cleaner and will help speed up your pc a small bit as well.

Once all downloaded update everything right away.

You should start up in safe mood after there all updated and run all the scans, deep scans it's gonna take an hour or 2 depending on your hdd size.

Edit: If those programs don't remove them then youve got spyware and such that is just worth to reformat your hd or it can take forever to remove it all, it require a lot of reboots, different programs, HJT logs and all.

    Post a HJT log.

  4. AntiVir is free and works great. Updates almost everyday. Maybe itll work for you, maybe not but check er out. ;-)

  5. fuck those, Google AVG Antivirus software, its free and its the shit, havent had a virus in over 2 years, and i download the shit out of music

  6. Run AVG, Hijackthis, and Ad-aware.

  7. Meh, on my Windows partition I do not trust free software yet to handle all of my malware needs. To my knowledge none are available that have a firewall to block outgoing traffic. If you can invest $30 into a security suite (I have ZoneAlarm security suite, memory hog but does an excellent job) that will be 30 dollars very well spent. I hate having to manage three different programs to keep my computer running clean.

  8. When i ran windows I used

    Nod32- antivirus
    Spybot- spyware
    Outpost- firewall

All worked for me and I do a lot of risky computer downloading.

  9. AVG rules.
    Do it. Just do it.
No but seriously, it works quite well.

  10. A lot of people seem to think that you only get viruses from risky downloads. The biggest risk factor for getting a virus is simply being connected to the internet. On an unprotected machine connected to broadband and not taking part in any activity, you generally will have an access attempt every 30 minutes or so.

  11. Yep, but risk downloads help.

And just connecting your self is not necessarily gonna get u hit with a virus. More like a random ping sweep which will then plant a trojan if it finds a hole.

  12. And on an unprotected computer that doesn't seal vulnerable open ports? It will find that hole, almost 100% of the time. ;)

  13. Trojans exploit the system restore feature.

Best bet is to reformat, and don't surf pr0n on a windows box if you don't have antivirus software.

Thank God for Linux and OS X.

  14. Not saying that it wont. Just saying more like a trojan then a virus.
