Im sorta new here and have posted a few times but am tardy in introducing my self. I'm an old fart of 71 and been smokin off and on since about 1958. mostly on until my heart attack about12 years ago. Now DR. says OK to eat it but no more joints. Bong mybe OK. . If anyone cares I couldgive more history. Not very exciting, tho. This is a great forum! One bit of unasked advice: You guys doing cocaine--even once---Watch Out. My son got hooked on it when he was in college in a dorm. His life turned to shit, we had to bring him home, he dropped out of college and went through fucking hell getting rid of the habit. He finally did. He says it was easy to start and fun for a while. Keep on tokin'
I'm only 21 and I've only been smoking for about a year and a half now. I've always been amazed by how many people smoke, and how varied and different their ages, and walks of life can be. I can't even begin to fathom being 71, the kind of person I'll be, the things that'll have changed (technologically, and personally), hopefully I'll still be smokin' though. I bow to your undoubtedly extensive and varied life-knowledge. Welcome to the City.

Yeah, seriously, tell us more about how things have changed since 1958. What was being a pothead like back then and how is it now? I'm really curious.
Maybe I can try to remember 1958. I think weed tasted about like the cheap stuff does now. and worked about as well. There also was acapulco gold--never could afford it. Those were the days when just 1 flake in your pocket would get you serious jail time. I never got caught. Never have. I'm working on a perfect record. Almost there. I was about 26 and had never heard of pot except reefer madness type stuff. It just wasnt common then--I guess. A buddy and I rented a 3 bedroom house. one day he came home with 2 guys he met in a bar. They were itinerate vacuum cleaner salesmen and rented the other br while they worked our town. They turned us on and oh boy-oh boy-oh boy!! its been a great(nearly) half century! Right then is when I learned about picking out stems and seeds. We never heard of smoking anything but j's. (I never heard of a bong until my kids started smoking in jr high) Those guys lived in a nearby BIG city and later invited us to their pad there to smoke etc. My buddy and I--being new to this scene--thought it would be funny to bang on his door and yell cops. Of course he chewed us out good--they nearly flushed everything. Anyway it was a nice night after all. The stuff was hard to get then I dont remember prices but I remember thinking if I could just earn $500.00 a month I'd be eatn' high on the hog. Everything was cheap compaired to now, but nobody made much either. Is that enough? I can remember when Hitler invaded the first time and started WWII in Europe and I can remember Pearl Harbor day (I was was in Spokane--I was just turned 9) I can remember how Truman fucked up the Korean war. I would have been in that if my fucking health had been good enuf. I was 4F. stillhave my draft card. I can remember when LBJ fucked up the Nam war and lost it and I can remember watergate. Thats got to be more than enuf. If I can remember anything good, Ill let you know.
