Anti-Weed commercials....getting better

I absolutely agree. Had'nt even noticed the change in intensity of their propaganda. I guess its a step in the right direction?

That girl fucking melted into the couch.. bullshit! The only time I EVER melted into my surroundings was on LSD.

I also didn't get the ad where they talked about getting high and "just sitting on pete's couch". They tried to frame it in a negative way... but it's true. Most of the time, we get high, eat, sit around, and discuss philosophical ideas.

 

Well, i think they realized that people aren't quite as stupid as they think we are when it comes to weed. since most of these commercials are aimed at teens, i think it's pretty safe to say that 85% of high schoolers know/hang out with someone who smokes weed. It's just a waste of money to make commercials that have no truth behind them. it's a tiny step, but it is in the right direction.

Yeah those commercials were fucked...It's like someone handing you a beer and then blindfolding you and telling you to run in traffic. They were fucking with those kids...they never figured they would actually try to agitate a mean dog or stick their fist in their mouth.

Haha, notice how it's always the kids that tried it like once in the commercials. The stoner friends that 'corrupted' them are always somewhere else, not getting read the riot act by some authority figure.

 

I am starting to appreciate them a slight bit.

They're tackling the right issues, but they're still perpetuating terrible stereotypes.

They need to give these kids the ACTUAL facts, give them the reality of it, not some half-assed cliche. Only then are these kids going to be able to make intelligent, informed decisions.

 

Hey, you know what I'd like, I'd like to see a weed commercial on t.v. not ran by anti-drug propaganda machines. You know what, though? The FCC wouldn't allow it...even if we showed that we were providing actual facts in an attempt to inform the public. I say we need to take down the FCC because any, any regulation of public communication is a violation of our freedom of speech, and blatently unconstitutional, and although prior restraint is illegal, I believe that the fines that the networks are subject to aren't legitimate either. And it's bullshit, I don't care if the commercials are getting better, it's not right for them to be allowed to air them if we can't air pro-weed material. Therefore, I say we should really boycott network television, and air our own stuff on the other networks. That could do a lot of good considering cable television is commonplace now...but meh...then how the hell are we gonna watch the superbowl, right? . This is all so bullshit...it just boggles my brain.

oh, and lets not forget, no major cable network would be stupid enough to air a pro weed commercial during their primetime shows...it would be bad for business...nobody is willing to man up and take risks that might put their bottomline in jeopardy...

 

but rasta! if the gov't told the truth, every little boy, and every little girl, would be rushing off to spark a j!!!!! of course then you'd have some kids who couldn't handle it... and have addictive personalities... and then there's an on-going legal problem because of a few troubled cases... when people fail to realize people abuse alcohol in many worse ways..... ahem... so yeah... i saw that commercial... it was funny, i laughed!

 

haha good call. Those kids are apparently impressionable all around, enough so to run through traffic, and fight dogs when they're told to do so. maybe weed aint the issue.

i agree with you they are getting better but i still hate how people who smoke weed are looked down upon/potrayed in those commercials....such as ohhh u smoke pot u cant be smart....or oh u smoke weed u cant have a good job...."but its all good im going off to college soon and someone else will have to take care of them" haha im sorry but no ones ever had to take care of me because i was high ....and whos to say his weed smoking friends arent going off to college too....wtf....sorry for my rambling but i suppose u get my point

 

the commercial you're talking about may not be as bad as some others, but it's still horrible.

 

the one with the short girl who was pressured to smoke really confused me. The only thing that i learned from that commercial is if i smoke weed i will shrink to midget proportions. and then i might overdose on maurijuana

 

I like it in the one with the black dude how he says hes talkin to all the girls while his boys just sit around... Does anyone lose the ability to talk to girls when the smoke cause i know i sure as hell don't, actually its easier after a few bowls...what the fuck...i mean yea he nailed it with the couch lock and watchin TV but i mean whats wrong with over enjoying a little television once and awhile haha .

the commercials are kind of improving. the couch one doesn't really say anything

negative except "do you know what happened while we sat on his couch? nothing." that's

bullshit because if nothing happened, then get up, and leave you dumbass.

they should make a commercial where it shows the thousands and thousands of innocent

people that get thrown in jail each year for cannabis. FUCK THE DEA.

same way bro. its because you're so relaxed. im not saying im the type that gets all nervous

around the ladies, im far from it, but chicks can read body language so well, so when you're

high, you're really relaxed and it comes off well with them. just play it smooth and you get the digits.

 

have u ever really taken a good look at that commercial? the guy saying he doesnt smoke has a giant scar on his temple that looks like he got knifed in the head. no wonder he doesnt smoke, hes probably on probation or something. that and does he really look like the type that all the girls would hang out with at a party? not really.

there was another commercial on recently about a kid saying he smoked pot and nothing happened, they just sat on his friends couch. basically saying stoners are wasting their lives. all the things they show that he could have been doing are better stoned. mountain biking, going to the movies etc. and if u really think about it, would going to a rager be better? he could get so drunk that dies of alcohol poisoning. what good would that be? at least he wasnt on the couch....

 

I have to agree with this. They're not as laughable as they used to be.
