Answer to testing "Airtightness" of jars

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Zilfana, Dec 7, 2011.

  1. I've read in a few different places lately on gc about keeping weed in glass mason jars (although this would really work with any kind of container.) Almost always there is someone who questions how to know if your jar is airtight. The solution is simple if you think about it.

    Submerge it in water

If it lets air out and water in, it isn't airtight.

  2. damn ur a genius..

always use airtight jars so mold and pests dont get in

  3. Airtight and water tight are not the same. A water molecule is larger than an air molecule so in reality, it could be water tight and not airtight. Nice hypethosis however...

  4. We aren't talking on the molecular level here. Of course it isn't going to indicate 100% that it's airtight.

Nonetheless, if it does leak water, you know for sure that it isn't airtight.

    Very well said.

  6. Let's bump this shit up! Everyone needs to learn about this trick!

  7. Submerge it in HOT water and it will give you slightly better results. The air in the jar will be trying to expand, so it makes your test a little more foolproof.
