Another Tincture Thread - Try it, You'll like it

I used some of the powdered canna-oil in my coffee this morning. It's the first time I have used it since I made it and I wanted to check it out. It was still nice and fluffy when I opened it up and it had the most wonderful fragrance cannabis that I remember from the early days of the thread which I haven't experienced is quite a while, not the tart and bitterness that comes with concentrates.

It makes my coffee taste like when I use coconut oil in it so the coconut flavor of the powder is coming through but not heavy. It dissolved readily with a little stirring, leaving the oil beads floating on the top which gets sipped off quickly. I started drinking it 15 minutes ago and have been feeling it's onset the last 5 minutes and building.

This isn't particularly for drinks hot or cold because while it does dissolve, it will leave the oil on the top unless you use it in a smoothie or something. This is great stuff to use as a topping or add in ingredient and it will dissolve in your mouth. Put some on a salad or mix it in some dip for chips. You'll get full potency in ways you never really expected before.

This will be one of the first things I test when I get the kit and I hope to give some to a friend with lower tolerance to check out. I think that if I can get my tolerance down, I'm going to be making a lot of this. I like the possibilities and not having to mess with oil every time I want to dose. I can just sprinkle or blend with whatever I'm having at the time. This is really good stuff if you ask me and I'll be talking a lot more about it.

A little update: It's now about 45 minutes since I dosed with the powder and I said that I was starting to feel it already. Well, I have now cleaned my apartment and seem to have energy to burn. I'm feeling pretty darn good considering I did less than a third of my usual dose. The strain was King Tut which is a decent Sativa and it's working good today.

 

I got the one that Joker linked along with an extra set of supplies, enough for another 25 tests. They're supposed to arrive Friday. I'm excited. Hopefully it does a decent job.

Isopropyl extracts pretty much the same as ethanol and the longer you soak your material the greener it will be. It really doesn't need more than a few minutes to extract the cannabinoids. You don't have that problem with kief, though, because they don't contain those polar compounds. You can leave it as long as you want without damage. You'll want to completely evaporate and purge it when you're finished. Don't use it as a tincture.

Kief/hash is about the easiest extraction you could hope for. Unfortunately, a herb grinder isn't going to be a good way to gather some quickly. I use a martini shaker which works pretty well as long as you can get the material to sift and that sounds like the hardest thing for you to attain.

This is how I gather mine. BNW uses a little more elaborate getup for his purposes.

Once you get the kief everything else is pretty easy either for oil or tincture although I would recommend 4g to 1oz of alcohol for the tincture. Like this: Another Tincture Thread - Try it, Youll like it.

Sorry you lost your cash on those scams. That's one of those situations where you need to take a chance in order to get something and that can be a crap shoot.

The test kit has arrived. All I've done so far is to verify the contents. I had planned to start right away but I was out in the record heat all day and was pretty spent by the time I got home. I have to go out again for a while today but hope to get started a little later today. I'll detail the contents and everything else as I go along.

This doesn't look to daunting but it is. You have to wear a mask, gloves and goggles to work with the fluid and dye and there's really small capillary tubes that I can barely even see. I think that I may need to be sober the first few times although I'm not sure that is even possible anymore...sober, that is.

This is going to usher in a new phase of the thread and I'm excited about it. Stay tuned.

 

Naptha is even worse. If you've got to use something other than ethanol then 99.9% isopropyl would probably be your best bet. You'll have to take it all the way to rso to be able to use it somewhat safely.

There sure is a lot more to this than meets the eye. I messed up the first plate and hopefully this one is kind of right. This is 4 samples. From left to right: Chocolope popcorn buds, grinder kief, Kona Gold GD and the powder.

I haven't started to look for specifics because I'm tired from running my brain trying to figure things out. The instruction manual was very explanatory and had been written for the previous version so not everything followed along. I was finally able to put this together and I can tell just by looking at it that something is right about it, thankfully.

Those long streaks at the bottom are the acids and I believe the concentration is noted by the intensity of the color. The first one on the left is right on because it is non-decarbed bud. The second one is bigger and darker because it's the grinder kief. The next one is the Kona Gold GD and you can tell it has been decarbed as had the last one. The shape of the color indicates other cannabinoid like CBG or CBC instead of the elongated THCa.

The dark spots at the top are THC with the color intensity denoting the potency. The ones you would expect, the bud and kief, aren't too dark because they are mostly THCa whereas the other two have definitely been decarbed.

I have a template that will show me how much THC there is but I haven't checked it yet. I'm satisfied right now and tired so I'll fill that in on the next post. I wanted to get this posted, though, so you can see how it's going along.
