I imagine this this forum is filled with questions like those. But i am curious why would anyone promise 8 week grow period when selling you seeds, whereas the reality is 65 days of just flowering and she still not finished?? I thought i give it another week.. starting getting real cold here soon What u guys think? Trichome - hard to tell.. some might look milky, some caramely Strain is auto fem, 90%sativa
From everything I've read and my own experience is that flowering times rely on a number of factors and the seed company will give an "educated" guess, but it's really just a guess. The rule of thumb is around 8 weeks for an Indica strain, 8 to 10 weeks for a Sativa strain. From the pictures, it looks pretty close, but probably another week.
Thanks for your reply. I will give it another week hoping that the buds will swell some more. At the moment this is what bothers me the most., that i cant disringuish if it is swellled enough or not yet. Trichomes and pistills are easy, because so much has been written about them in many threads. Is there a chance the plant will stay this unswelled ? Temp outside is low 50 during the day and low 40 during the night.
Those are really cold temps for marijuana. I have read that at 50 and lower the plant doesn't really grow. Indica's can handle low temps better then Sativa's but 40 to 50 is really on the cold side. I just noticed in your original post that it's an auto and a Sativa. If your seeing some amber trichomes, I would chop it.
Still havent chopped it for the reason i cut one upper bud to test a few days ago and the potency was nonexistent. Also, a crew of aphids decided to 'inspect' my plant so couple of days spent fighting those.. Here is what it looks like now. I am losing hope here. Am i too late? Why no high in them?
It's not going to have potency if you chop it, dry it for a few days and smoke it. The only factors that will give you potency is time, patience, and proper drying and curing techniques. I dry for a week depending on the drying environment (humidity, temperature, and air flow) and also the density of the buds and genetics. I then CURE for a week and then I have a test for quality. By no means is it ready yet. I'll continue to test it every week until I think it's fully cured and then I start giving it out and smoking more. Fully cured is really just preference because you can cure bud for up to year and when you crack that jar it'll take you to a heavenly place. This year I'm curing for 4 months and in March I'll see where the potency is. You have a small grow so if you keep rushing it and being impatient, I guarantee you will smoke all your stuff up before it's reached it's maximum potency. Discipline, patience and attention to details.. will take you far in life and in your cannabis adventures.
Oh yea.. and every plant is different. Two seeds from the same genetic stock can grow very different and mature at different times. I have an Indica that is usually a fast vegging plant and is early flowering and this year it's pushing to almost 10 wks flowering and was a slow steady grower, but the potency is out of this world. Listen and pay attention to every plant, because they are all different.
And last point I'll make before I release your post from hostage... environment + genetics are the two factors that determine how your plants grow and mature. Even two clones in different environments are going to grow and mature differently.
