Andrew Yang 2020

  1. Seeing more of Andrew Yang out there, and apparently he qualified for the democratic debates. Since we' talking in memes;

This is the coalition of folks I see interested in him. Are Americans aware of him? If so, what are the opinions? Curious as to all data, whether you support him, dont know about him, love him, it's all interesting.

  2. Never heard of him nor do I support him, who would have guessed that right?

  3. The meme's aren't organic and his donation counter was rigged. If you changed the date on your computer it would increase the slide, after this was discovered they said the intensive was met. Who cares though, gotta get the bag. It should be mentioned he's promising a $1,000/month UBI. He believes if the white population isn't placated they're going to start goosestepping. He also wants to charge firearms manufactures $1m for every death from a gun.

  4. The man seems to have a better head on his shoulders than most candidates, but he's still convinced of the Luddite fallacy around automation. Everyone seems to forget that the purpose of an economy is not to create jobs, but to create wealth. Imagine how much cheaper things would be if you didn't need to pay people to drive trucks across the country? The worry seems to be "well there will be a bunch of unemployed truck drivers" but saving all those man hours just increases the total wealth of society once those people figure out other productive things to do with their time.

This concept is intuitive at a more individual level. Am I poorer or richer because I have things like appliances that make daily tasks easier? Obviously the latter, the more I can automate the mundane tasks the more time I have to devote to other productive pursuits. A true post scarcity or low scarcity society would be a utopia, not a dystopia, since without scarcity the debate about capitalism vs socialism/communism becomes irrelevant, we require neither.

  5. Great interview and conversation. I like this guy, even if I don't agree with his main policy - much like Tulsi, I've noticed. I don't think I trust the candidates I agree with as much as the ones I disagree with on important issues, which is a strange place to be.

  7. What does that mean, exactly? Think I get it, but I've not yet got my black belt in memejitsu

  8. I'm guessing it means the meme's are generated by him or his staff and not by ordinary people.

  9. I'm starting to like this dude a little.
Doubt he has enough corporate and media backing to have a chance though.
But at least he comes up with his own ideas and not just DNC talking points.
Lots of the ideas are wacky, but he has his own thoughts, and seems smart.
Wacky ideas won't make it through congress or the courts anyway.

  10. I've heard there's several candidates including republicans who want universal basic income. I believe it will happen eventually and it's inevitable. Everything is going to be automated very soon. There won't be any workers needed so they will pay off the population to stay home. With the money from the govt we will buy goods from the same corporations that laid everyone off, and now own us for only $1000 a month which they get back. I'm also assuming they will implement a funding plan for housing and food in addition to the cash. Only safe job left is probably in custodial work, for now...unless you are recruited to maintain the autonomous machinery.

  11. I think it's absolutely a coming issue, and one that will sneak up on us if not prepared. I don't know if I agree with Yang's approach to handling the problem, but I really appreciate that he's drawing attention to it.

The connection between automation, job loss, and depression and suicide was eye-opening to me. As Yang says, it's dark stuff.

It does open an avenue of power for the government that I don't like one bit.

  12. Yeah, because we need a Chinese man to run America.

  13. I guess we've learned nothing about tokens running America.

  14. Universal basic income was one of the wackier ideas on his platform..
    Makes no sense to me.

  15. Are you racially profiling him? Ill admit he looks smarter than he sounds to me lol jk. I remember watching some of his interview on Rogan and came away feeling the same way you did.

  16. The problem is that our monetary system here in the states is inflationary and destroys value its not automation. Yang seems to be missing the gold link on his maester chain (GOT reference).

  17. I'm not racially profiling anyone, but I bet he's also great at math and laundry.
And to be serious.. I'm not in love with him at all, but look at the rest of that field.. It's pretty bad.

  18. Until someone starts talking about the federal reserve there is little reason to listen to any of them IMO

  19. Is his 1k per month for everyone a replacement for all current social spending in the US? If not, how does he plan to fund it? It would cost 3 or 4 trillion USD a year and if he thinks he can raise that kind of revenue from his proposed VAT he's dreaming.

  20. They're made in Yang discord servers by staff and pushed on /pol/ and reddit with an agenda. There's tons of screenshots with guidelines and instructions from "up top" telling them to push or cut a certain angle. Like the brass got pissy when people started pushing "alt-right" memes like a smiling Yang gassing Trump and disavowed it.
