The law in this county reads that a "permitted" grow must be at least 600 feet from a school. With expansion, this legal permitted one will still be 1500 feet away. Now keep in mind this is wine country. You can't hardly drive into town without viewing vineyards grown for the purpose of making alcoholic beverages for recreational use. But cannabis? Whoa, we don't want our kids to see drugs, man. Parents raise concerns over proposed expansion of cannabis grow near Nipomo school I expect this will turn out to be just another one of those problems you can throw money at to make it go away.
WTF the argument is exposing them to the smell is not the right thing to do....it's fucking nature?!?!?! They aren't surrounding the school smoking joints or with weedsmoke... What about all those cigarette smokers that aren't 2 feet let alone 25 ft away from any building? Every single day?
Good point, it shows it's all about appearances. Like some gun laws, shit, it's like a lot of laws. Some people want to outlaw things because they think it makes them look as if they care but it actually makes them look silly.
The dumbest of political ideas are from emotion and void of logic. If it's indoor growing nobody would even know. If it's outdoor the "worst" thing that could happen is a kid walking home smells a bit of weed or sees a weed plant. Oh my! A kid may see or smell a plant that's never killed a single human being. Then they can go home to mommy and daddy who smoke cigs, get drunk and pop prescription pills. Amuricuhh!!!
On the main road in and out of town, about 7 miles from the house, there's a 5 acre hemp field right off the road. About a mile past that across the other side of the road there's about, I guess 50+ acres of hemp from the road, across the fields, and sprawling up the side of the hill. I wonder how many people drive by that twice a day and don't even know what the hell it is?
