Update About Advertising on Grasscity Important: A New Chapter for Grasscity

An important question lookin' 4 an answer!

    So, we are 7 weeks into the veg process. Have had the plants under 8 floros 24 hours light a day, cause that's all we could get our hands on when we first started. Today we found this kick ass hydro shop near where we live and picked up a 400 watt hps/mh swichable lighting system. So, the question is, when we hang the hps tonight how far away from the tops of the plants do we hang it? And, should we keep it on 24 or should we switch to 18/6? We are just affraid that the hps is gonna be too hot for the plants. Helpfull feedback appreciated!:p

    I would say once you go to HPS, its good to only be on 18/6, not 24/0.
    Its good to start the HPS about 24 inches away, and see how that goes, then slowly move it closer unitl you get about 16-20 inches.

    Thanx a lot! We have been sitting here waiting to hang it until we knew for sure. Getting' pretty antsy! It was like Christmas in the hydro shop today!:D

    I have mine like 7 inches above my plants and it's a 400mh/hps conversion and they're doing fine plus I have on 24/0 and they love it.........I wouldn't suggest cutting back on the time frame but test how far you can have your light over your plants depends on how good your ventilation is

    I know the feeling, my friend and I have been anxious to turn ours to 12/12 with the HPS, but decided to give em more and more hps each day mixed with the fluros until its 18/6 with just the HPS (If that makes any sense). We are going to wait until the undergrowth becomes more mature before switching to 12/12, patience is a virtue!
