An army marches on it's stomach

  1. I don't know who originally penned that fine phrase but it occurs to me that it is pure brilliance.

I myself have given up actually smoking and now only Vape or eat the herb. I find myself gravitating toward only eating it.

Let me explain in greater detail; I retired about 9 months go from a job that absolutely would have fired, prosecuted and publicly shamed me for even thinking about weed. Well, it paid really well and now I'm set for life. So after a few months of retirement I decided to smoke a long overdue bowl with my daughter.

Recently I have developed a slight smoker's cough. Thought it would go away, but it persists. I have been very athletic my whole life including my passion, road bicycling. So this cough thing just don't fit my lifestyle. So hence, vaping and edibles.

Interesting trend I've noticed with friends and relatives who find out I use weed. They're very judgmental when they think I smoke weed. When they find out I only Vape or use edibles, they start asking more questions and their minds seem to relax and open to the idea. In particular, they seem to be keenly interested in edibles.

I believe one of the keys to making marijuana mainstream and to gain majority approval and acceptance is to provide some meaning or vision for the average person (voter) as to how weed might personally affect them. Smoking is abhorrent for a lot of physical minded folks, but eating an herb is a whole different dealio.

I have nothing against smoking, and yes I too think a smoking high is fantastic and I'm sure I have not smoked my last. But my intent is to stay away from lung damage as much as possible.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer here but that is my personal truth. Peace.

  2. Good post man, I'm glad you're hangin with Mary again :smoke: hahaha. But I agree, people just need to get educated on the potential and adaptability of the herb to appreciate it. Keep on enlightening those who won't enlighten themselves!

  3. Enlightenment is really just a pairing, the right brownie with the right person at the right time.

  4. Great post, hon! I collect MMJ studies and I think you would find what I've got to be very interesting! See that first link in my sig? Just click it and start reading!

I have sections on vaporizing, links to recipe collections, and much more! Cannabis is good for a LOT more than "just" getting high! :smoking:

Tinctures are another way of using cannabis that may appeal to you- Check out "METHODS OF USE- TINCTURES" for recipes and more! Tinctures can be made with either alcohol or glycerin (your local health food store has it) and provide a discrete way of using away from home.

Incidentally, the actual lung damage (in terms of COPD or lung cancer risk) is pretty dang small. That cough is about the worst of it. This first article has a very misleading title! The increase in risk of COPD to "cannabis only" smokers is "not statistically significant". Adding cannabis use to current tobacco use raises the COPD risk from 2.7 to 2.9 times greater risk than a non-smoker. Tobacco is the villain in this story!

  5. I think the reason people accept edibles so much is because you can just eat it, people relate it to taking pills like prescriptions
All the years of anti-tobacco ads has really warped people's view of smoking anything
When I smoke a cigarette in public, ive had people give me looks like I was defacing public property or something. It's weird, some people really get crazy over how other people choose to live their lives
