    Just a quick heads-up so everyone knows if I'm not already late:

    The ''wietpas'' policy is cancelled YET still in place... What this means is that everyone who wants to buy cannabis in the Netherlands after January 1st of 2013 will need to be registered as a citizen in a Dutch province somewhere near where you're buying.

    Now for the big but: The pass itself is gone... You don't need to carry that around anymore. This creates a bit of freedom. Let me translate:

    ''De controle hiervan geschiedt echter in 'overleg met betrokken gemeenten', 'zonodig gefaseerd' en 'waarbij wordt aangesloten bij het lokale coffeeshop- en veiligheidsbeleid'. Dit biedt ruimte voor steden als Amsterdam om haar eigen beleid te blijven voeren. ''

    Freely translated this means:
    ''Checking if people adher to the registration law will be done in cooperation with local authorities, possibly phased and it can be changed to fit local coffeeshop and safety regulations''

    This means that some cities like Amsterdam will still be able to have their own form of Cannabis policies... I'm curious to see how this turns out... But for the sake of everything Cannabis in the Netherlands (where I live) I'm hoping they can still sell to tourists!
