Planning a trip for my upcoming birthday to go to Amsterdam. Where should I stay? What should I do when I get there? Any places to avoid?
If u didn't kno so already, the coffeeshops will be unavailable to tourists in Amsterdam from the beginning of next year. At least on paper. Wether or not it will be enforced still remains to be seen.
Not too worried about that. Worst comes to worst im making deals just like i am now, but what i wanna know is basically where to stay so i can hit up all the best tourist places. Even if i cant get a hookup in a coffee shop, ill still stop in, get a drink, and chill in the atmosphere just to see what its like. Not sure where the January 14th came from but its in february
That's not true...The ban doesn't look like it's going into affect now, a new government was voted into office in the Netherlands. It might go through in the future, but for right now even in 2013 tourists will be okay.
I had read up on it earlier just checking out tourist activities and i saw something about that. Didnt concern me too much so I didnt look in to it but always good to know I can get some grade a herb at a store and toke up
As far as staying, I've been there 3 times and I prefer staying in the city central. A lot of hotels are 20/30 minutes away on bus from downtown amsterdam. If you dont mind traveling back and forth then that's cool, but I prefer being able to walk around at night, be close to my hotel all the time, be able to stay out late, etc etc. The last two times I've been there I stayed at the Renaissance Amsterdam hotel, and the last time about 2 months ago I rented an apartment for a week from the NH Hotel Barbizon. Really dug the apartment from Barbizon. It was about a block away from the hotel, but you could still get room service, luggage pick up, everything you could get if you were staying in the actual hotel. It had two different floors, a kitchenette with a little stove top grill area, fridge, microwave. etc
The last time I was there for a week, and I brought about 1200 but ended up spending about 1,000. But... I went with my girlfriend, we split a lot of the costs, but we went out to eat at some pretty fancy places a couple times, we took some day tours to the country side and other countries. shit like that. Plus I bought a ton of weed, a lot of edibles, we were out drinking a lot. The time before I went for 6 days and brought about 800 bucks. And that was fine too. Amsterdam is a pretty expensive city, and the dollar to Euro conversion kinda sucks so you have to take that into consideration. But, if you're going bye yourself, if you dont mind eating like cheap fast food and stuff then you can save a lot of money.
I went twice bro, the first time i stayed at a hotel right in the sq. I cant remember the name of it but it was a few doors down from kingston coffee shop. The second time i stayed further away and it was about 30 40 min walk up to the sq, i didnt really like that esp when i nearly got run down by bicycles every 2 mins. Money depends on what kind of week you want, the first time i had the best time, i went mad though spent about 1500-2000 pounds in 4 days and that was without the red lights. Have fun bro. When i read the title of this thread i thought someone was taking all the blades to dam.
i wish i could take everyone, but if some blades wanna start saving money and head out there this coming spring or something i would be more than happy to do that
I have sworn an oath to make sure i go to the cup next year, i was going to go this year but shit came up, thats why i am sitting infront of a computer screen and not having a ball in dam. Illogik. That was without hotel and flights bro, food, smoke, and whole load of other shit, if you dont watch what youre spending your money will go real quick.
