What would you guys say is the perfect or ideal number of (tree) percolator arms. Overall, that is including precooler, and bong
Personally I think the Luke Wilson/Leisure 15-arm bubbler is nucking futs. But for a precooler I'd go for a 6 arm or an 8 arm if you're willing to shell out a bit more, and in bong I'd look for 6 or 8 aswell.
To be honest I was going to get an 11 arm precooler, 8 arm base, 8 arm extender, and 12 arm tube with ice catcher(All Blaze mix and match). Is there really anything wrong with overkill?
Just a tonnnnn of drag. Not always the best thing, but not always bad. Depends on personal preference and the piece. But generally, less drag is better. Generally. I would say what you have in mind is overkill. But that's just me.
Thanks sheldon, maybe a better question to ask is how many perc arms do you guys have in your pieces?
Tree percs are a bit out of style, due to better designs that are much more affordable now, and have much less drag that tree arms. It really depends on the maker, the style of glass, the length of the arms, the type of diffusion in the arms, the type of cuts made, ect. One 8 arm tree perc bong may hit different than another, so it's really hard to compare these things. Less is better with tree percs though, definitely.

I'm looking to get blaze mix and match mostly, so that it is "collapsible", what would you reccomend for that. I think it offers Dome, UFO, and Tree, also a spiral "condenser"(which i dont think would work all that well, but i dont have experience)
thats gonna cause a TON of drag and probably not be too enjoyable of a hit. i personally have a mini 10 arm tree bubbler, a wicked sands beaker bottom with alex k to 8 arm tree. a vip straight tube to 6 arm with an illedelph ac, and finally a sovereignty stemline to 8 arm. tree percs tend to get draggy, i have hit a friends triple 8 arm and its the worst hitting piece ive ever used. stick with something more simple than those gimmicky build a tube things. get a 2 chamber at most, beaker, straight or stemless to a tree perc. or you could always get a straight tube and add ash catcher to it for more diffusion.
Ok Im really a noob when it comes to high end pieces so heres wut I would like: Ashcatcher so the ash doesnt get into my bong for the most part(recommend): Hoss Double Wall Beaker Base Recommend a straight tube and/or perc extender to go on top of the beaker base
i wouldnt recommend either, whats your price range? seems around 250 for the hoss stuff? for that you could get much better.
I prefer the "Mix and Match" type because I want it to be collapsible, basically for the portability and ease of storage
id still say get a straight tube with an ash catcher. those mix and match ones will be WAY more prone to breaking, and it will be way harder to find replacements, i doubt your local shop carries the attachments. sorry but im really not sold nor will tell anyone to buy one of those. get a double chamber tube or get a straight tube with an ac.
