  1. Just bought it, the film was awesome and ive heard great things about the book, shame i didn't read it before the film though, anyone else read this? and what did you think of it? :smoke:

  2. Bland & dull with pointlessly big diatribes about corporate life between the interesting bits. I know that was the whole point of it, but it was still mind numbing. Some of the descriptions of people's flats or suits are almost as dragging as that speech in Atlas shrugged.

  3. I found his rambles about his hygiene routine or huey lewis to be amusing, but overall i found it hard to read through, awful bloated.

  4. I might be in the minority but I enjoyed the film more than the book. The book I feel might have been too extreme with the violence, whereas in the film most of it is implied. The ambiguity adds to the tension.
Good book though, worth a read.

  5. Like others have said, quite gratuitous and bloated; she enforces her metaphor so provocatively at times it can become overbearing and thus lose its edge. Quite enjoyable tho, none the less.

  6. That was the book that made me STOP reading Bret Easton Ellis - up to that point I had read his ouevre. After that I lost faith that he had any talent. One of the true exceptions to the rule that "The Book is always better than the Movie".

  7. Agreed, i loved the movie. Did you enjoy Less than Zero?

  8. She?the author?

  9. Sorry, i was thinking about the film while writing that.

  10. I did enjoy the books "Less Than Zero" and "Rules of the Attraction" - I think AP was his 3rd book, and I stopped reading him after that. Honestly, it's not that good of a book.
