Ok, i have been doing loads of research on the differences and simularities between our american government, and other governments. I have noticed that other countries have free health care. Not crap like what obamas shitting out, this world is going to get worse people, and if u know anything about a country called NAZI germany, thats what america is becomeing, we just have a different god and a different enemy, oh and one more thing a different flag. these are all things that the media use to prove we are NOT the same. and i dis agree. Muslims have been disappearing ever since 9/11 and japanese dissappeared shortly after Pearl Harbor. In germany, the jews disappeared. You dont learn too much about the regular germans who werent illigal. the fact that they were living completlely oblivious and in complete cupport for what they were doing... your government is mind fucking you people, and no one sees it. Well thats why im posting this thread. i want to see how many americans here on GC would move to canada if they had the chance. I know it may seem stupid to some, but i promise, statistics like americas obesiety problems and death rates play a great deal into american health care and clenliness. If u could leave, legally and become a citizen in a differnt country, would you?
I like this country. Better than some other places. In college they make us do this stoopid shit where we have to talk to someone from another country. This year it was Kuwait. I learned a lot like how Kuwait is rich (from the oil we buy). Everyone in Kuwait is either Rich or a taxi/Limo driver. But woman and men can't go to school together. Also there ain't shit to do in Kuwait they said. I like America every country has their pro's and con's. Our history teacher always tells us that in England he was never aloud to talk about the princess or anyone in the royal family or else he'd lose his job. If we were in England do you guys really think we would hear abou Govenor Patterson in NY taking those baseball tickets for free?
We have a lot more freedom than it seems sometimes, though... I wouldn't want to give a lot of that up.
QFT, and as it was said earlier, all countries have their ups and downs pertaining to law and what is considered "freedom." And to be honest, I doubt universal healthcare will be addressed during this recession. The US simply doesn't have the money to pay for it. We're up to our knees in shit to deal with. And our shitty President isn't really helping. And if you were really trying to compare America to Nazi Germany.... That's a silly statement
I've been living in Switzerland for the past few months now and it's a big change from the states. As much as I love it here, I wouldn't want to live here for good. There is just something about the american way of life and people that is unlike anything else in the world (in a good way). And on the whole Nazi Germany thing, you couldn't be further from the truth. I've learned a LOT from Germans here whose grandparents grew up while the Nazis were in power. I don't really feel like going into detail right now, but there is no reasonable way to compare the two. No offense, but it sounds like you've been watching too much Glenn Beck (who is MUCH closer to a Nazi than anyone in real power with his uber-conservative fear mongering and distortions of the truth) . There are many aspects of our government that could be improved upon though. Police for example, here there are no laws against drinking in public and weed for personal use is tolerated. Because of this, I do not fear the police here. They are not the uneducated, power-hungry meatheads we have in the states. They are more interested in real crimes with real victims, which makes them much more effective at doing their real jobs. Sorry for the rambling
I love our country! We really do have a lot of rights that other "similar" nations do not grant (i.e. firearms).
As a Canadian I think the Declaration of Independence, the bill of rights and other american documents of freedom are some of the most beautiful and magnificent documents ever written by the human race. I'm stunned at the disparity between the theory of the U.S. and the reality of it though. At least the view of it I have from outside of it; which I know, isn't the whole story. Congratulations on getting your health care in order. The richest nation on earth, shouldn't allow insurance companies, to deny children health care for "pre-existing conditions" clauses.
The grass is always greener. How can you compare America to Nazi Germany? Is Obama forcing me to take people, force them to work in concentration camps, and then slaughter most of them?
No, but if you've ever heard of a little something that came out right after 9/11, called The Patriot Act. The patriot act basically says that if your government suspects you in any way of being a terrorrist, they tap your phones, they take you away and they put you in Guantonimo bay. Does anyone know what happens there? I guess not, the soldiers there make those men have sex with eachother. They make them do very terrible and un healthy things. Thats an american concentration camp. Half those "terrorists" were trained by our CIA, and the other half is made up, of prisoners we've taken from other countries, and helpless american citrizens who were taken away because of how they dress, ALL BECAUSE OF THE PATRIOT ACT! Now i can respect the fact that we are afraid of them. but people forgot about 9/11. They were distracted by all the parties that were thrown for the big heroes that helped us in that mess. well even now, those heroes are dying. and its all because of our health care...insurance companies own the medical world, and not one of them care about you. they care about keeping you scared and uneducated (i could go into this too, because we are one of the smaller countries when it comes to education). Keeping you this way, causes you, to think ur being protected by a law called the patriot act, it sounds patriotic, why wouldnt u think its ok?
well, in this case with america, yes we are in a different time and it is easier to leave the country than it was to leave germany, but how do u know in a few years your government wont change that too. bottom line is, the government does what it wants, u think u have power for being a voter, well most people dont vote. because their government has scared them. our country is profiting off of you people right now, and useing the money on wars around the world. instead of trying to heal you, or give you a good place to stay, or even a job, they are building prisons, and sending expendable men and women into harms way, every day. i do not want to be a supporter of this kind of militarilistic way of running a country.
