  1. have you seen the news in the past 10 years? It'll change your mind about that real quickly

like i said, economically, the US is still in the lead. no doubt there was a global recession, and as we've seen with any other recession/depression in economic history, there's a recovery. care to show me a country doing any better besides mentioning gdp trends in developing nations?

i remember when people though the '91 recession was the end of the world

  3. its thinking like this that clouds your vision of the present.

things are different now. things are worse now

  4. No doubt successful, at least in terms of world economy and technological advancement, but it also made us lazy and stupid. This is why America will fall

  5. "The CPI generally defines corruption as "the misuse of public power for private benefit.""

Wait, now I'm confused. We have a 7.1/10... but when was the last time congress made any decision (or indecision) that wasn't purely for private gain and dressed up with elaborate rhetoric? It was my understanding that they generally only ever end up winning elections when they have the highest corporate donations, which implies a long political career of pandering to private interests. Sounds pretty close to the CPI definition of corruption to me.

kind of depressing when you consider how much red is covering the rest of the world.

  6. When we can vote for president with a text message from the comfort of our living room, with no age restrictions, and as many times as we want, I'm sure the turnout would look different

'91? Dude our debt to GDP is 1:1 now and we have 15+ trillion in debt.

U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time <-- Explore a little and come back here and tell us this looks good...

  8. Very different. It would be a tight race between Edward from Twilight and whatever disney star they currently have in the spotlight.

  9. it's like the boy who cried wolf, kind of. but booms and busts are just an inherent part of a speculative capitalist society. and may i ask, how exactly are things so different to the point where it would change everything

debt mostly caused by wars and a disingenuous handling of taxes starting from the 80's. we could pay off the debt by following the rest of the modern world's basic tax code, but instead the neocons yell sound bytes like 'class warfare!', 'socialism' or 'jealousy!'... debt is certainly a bad thing in the long run, but when looking at short term it's really a non-issue. treasury debts are being bought with bonds left and right from europe and china, and they've always continued to do so. decoupling is a myth and the US dollar remains strong, and there's no reason to think otherwise.

  10. true

    possibly true

    untrue

absolutely false. absolutely, entirely, completely and utterly false.

  11. no one here seems to be able to get through to you about anything related to this here.

if you really want to know, if you actually want to look at both sides of the arguement, then do some research of your own.

look back at history. look at how the economy works.

look at things from the bottom up

  12. Home of the dumb is more like it

  13. Yup! up here in Canada, when we sit in our igloos and enjoy a smoke, politics often becomes topic and when the topic turns to the election primaries south of the border we all laugh together and someone inevitably says " they still just dont get it! all they have to do is elect RP and shit can calm down". Maybe you guys should have a hunting season for sheeple![IMG]

  14. It's my oppinion that if Americans want change they should start voting for the parties that represent their views rather than the two major ones that seem to be continually shiting all over them.

I thought liberals got their change?
