The Obama administration tried to placate Europe's anger over spying programs. Not as ex-President Jimmy Carter: The Democrat attacked the U.S. intelligence sharp. The disclosure by whistleblowers Snowden was "useful." Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was in the wake of the NSA Spähskandals criticized the American political system. "America has no functioning democracy," Carter said Tuesday at a meeting of the "Atlantic Bridge" in Atlanta. Previously, the Democrat had been very critical of the practices of U.S. intelligence. "I think the invasion of privacy has gone too far," Carter told CNN. "And I think that is why the secrecy was excessive."Overlooking the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said Carter, whose revelations were long "likely to be useful because they inform the public." Carter has repeatedly warned that the United States sharply declined due to excessive restriction of civil rights, their moral authority. Last year he wrote in an article in the "New York Times", new U.S. laws "never before seen breach our privacy by the government" allowed the. Carter was the 39th President of the United States, who ruled from 1977 until 1981. During his tenure, he tried to align U.S. foreign policy that is more about human rights - after his retirement from active politics for his humanitarian work, he received the 2002Nobel Peace Prize . In Atlanta, he also expressed his overall pessimistic about the global situation. There is currently no reason for him to be optimistic, Carter said, referring to the situation in Egypt, which had fallen into a military dictatorship. He also lamented the growing political divide in the United States, the excessive influence of money in U.S. election campaigns and the confusing American election rules. The ex-president whose "Carter Center" operates worldwide including election monitoring, announced skeptical whether the United States, the standard that applies when reviewing the Center of elections might be fulfilled. As a bright spot, however, Carter called the triumph of modern technology that would have caused some of the countries of the Arab Spring of democratic progress. Exactly these developments but are endangered by the NSA Spähskandal as major U.S. Internet platforms such as Google or Facebook lose credibility worldwide. http://briankellysblog.blogspot.ca/2013/07/jimmy-carter-supports-snowden-admits-to.html
We never had had a democracy. It's a representative republic. Democracy has never truly existed sense the pre-empire Rome and would fail miserably. It's one of those things from the public school system that you later learn to be a bunch of bullshit.
Its far from perfect but certainly better then most nations. Like everything though it was created by man and its up to man to fix. Its always a work in progress. Ive spent a couple years in Iraq in the past as a contractor being paid by there government for services. They have a elected leader but they have no power anywhere or water. They rake in billions a month in revenue yet Baghdad still to this day has limited power. The fat cats all have generators so no worries there. They have no effective water flow either so they all drink bottled water that the government provided. There leader there has restructured the government where he controls all. This is just a example but for the majority of the world they live in conditions you can not even begin to imagine. Some perhaps was created by the US or EU most was created by themselves. Go to Africa there so improvished its silly there. Go to Asia other then China there dead broke. If your talking about Democracy well there are more people not living under that then are. Scary thought. China is on track for 3 billion souls. If Aliens landed they would think they were the dominate race on this planet and assume that there way of life was how it was. Things can be far far worse. Everything constantly evolves. If one does not like it well you can leave, help, run for office etc, but like most of us all you will do is bitch probably not vote then wonder why its like it is.
You're a good poster in this section. I like reading what you have to say. So please, I ask. Space your written memos out in some paragraphs so I can read em' a lot easier. -Thanks
I would try to space...I do but for some nutty reason GC bunches them all together. I can not even do a quick reply. Any suggestions would be helpful. One day it was all working then last week or so it has not. As for Iraq most of the damage but your a sympathizer so you would argue was created by them. When we arrived the power lines were taken already for copper, power plants pillaged, water plants non functional. There have been many reports and studies done that the US was unprepared for this reality. Arabs and I know first hand do not maintain squat. They use it till it breaks, fix it till blows up then they buy another. Saudi and the rest of them buy American hardware but they never want the technical training to fix it. A case in point is General Dynamics sent 300 M1A1 Battle Tanks that the fools bought in Iraq. They would not pay for the technical training. So they have 300 state of the art tanks that are already in a stage of decay. They will simply buy 300 more when these do not work. I remember telling them that the B-52 bomber came out in the 1950's and we intended to fly that till 2050 time frame. They were horrified.
^^^^^^ You can go back in and edit your posts after putting them up. This will allow you to space out the wall of words.
The nutty thing is when I hit the edit button....my post is properly spaced. Then when I hit the button to post it a pop up comes up and says "Undefined Error" I have tried this in 3 browsers. I asked GC for help they said all was well it was my fault. No idea what the issue is.
Before the US invaded Iraq there had been years of crippling sanctions championed and pushed by the US government that had brought Iraq to its knees and killed up to a million Iraqi children in the process. It is hardly surprising that when you landed as part of the invasion that the country was already fucked.
Do what we want and sanctions go away. We had a fine President at the turn of the 20th Century by the last name of Roosevelt that said speak softly but carry a big stick. That has applied to any major power since the dawn of time. Its no different then yesterday. I have no fear of the Arabs though they will do themselves in. From ever corner of the universe they occupy you see a miserable society that produces nothing other then oil. They all have a rather unremarkable society. Half are poor and needy, the rest have a resource the world uses in mass...which is the ONLY reason why Russia, China, USA has a interest in them. Culture wise there as important to the world as Africa is. One day Africa will be important and its gearing up but its for resources. China is buying up Africa like no tomorrow.
Why should any country have to bow and do what the US wants especially when the "offences" they are calling other countries out on are trivial compared to their own crimes ? Why not impose sanctions on Israel for refusing to declare what nuclear weapons they possess and not allowing international weapons inspectors in ?
The nuclear weapons were most likely given to them by the US thats why. Why should any country bow well its just how it is. If China was the top dog and say wanted to put sanctions on Brazil then the world would comply with the Chinese. You never piss off who's on top. It never ends well. Perhaps in a pie in the sky universe that you occupy it does but in reality it does not. I can not wait till some crazy Islamic nut jobs attacks China. Does anyone here believe that China would of responded to Sept 11 if it was on there shores like we did..spending over a Trillion dollars to rebuild the country. They would of liquidated every stinking one of those people. That nation in it's entirety would cease to exist. Those that survived would tell the tale in there mud hut of the Asians who are not to be messed with.
Blatant hypocrisy. This is why the US is in the hole it is today in the Middle East and other parts of the world. It acts like a school yard bully. The Chinese are a much different player than Team USA. The Chinese have sensibly concentrated in the main part on making Trade not War. IMO the Chinese are akin to the quite kid who sits in the corner of the classroom and concentrates on his studies and achieving whilst the US is the big brute of a jock throwing his weight around at the back of the classroom making himself the center of attention. From watching John Hughes films i have learned that the quite geeky kid always comes out on top at the end.
I actually use a Mac. My primary browser is Safari but I had Firefox. All this odd behavior was happening in either one. I do not like Google Chrome but will keep it for this site.
