Just saw this an hour ago. Amazing stuff. My thoughts? Anyone who opposes stem cell research is an idiot.
Agreed. Why not support something that can further mankind? Maybe soon we will be able to start making organs as a whole from our own cells so there will be no need for donors.
Dude, he said an individual decided to throw a cup of gas on the fire, while he was standing next to the fire..
FYI, the "stem cell research ban" wasn't a ban on research, but a ban on Federal subsidies. Research was always being conducted, but now the Federal government is influencing the direction of it. Not sure if that's who you're referring to though.
I know you have strong views as to what the ideal size of government is, and it's certainly a lot smaller than the one we currently have in place. Nevertheless, considering this monolithic entity is here right now, why should we not use it for the benefit of mankind (e.g subsidies for stem cell research)? At the very least I see no reason why subsidies for medical/technological research should go before funding for wars in the Middle East do...
This video contains content from National Geographic, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. i can only see the picture and it looks nasty. anyone got another link? national geographic apparently hates the netherlands...
Aaronman is right, unfortunately. I have said this in the past, too. If we are going to be taxed and have all of our money go to the government, why can't it spend that money on research? Stem cell research, space travel research, genetic research, cloning research, microbiological research, neurological research, etc. Research in the industries which harbor potentially game changing technologies for human kind. I would rather my money go to people in these fields than to the military industrial complex. However, that would never happen and if it did it would be just as corrupt as the rest of the government. Corporate lobbyists would be in bed with politicians just to get more federal research money and the results of this research would start to become skewed in favor of some agenda because of the source of the money. In my mind biased research results is the last thing I want. Like with drugs. All research pertaining to drugs funded by our government says drugs are bad.
Ya I agree, I'm just saying I see a lot of people fail to make the distinction between opinions of Federal funding and the actual research. The problem with Federal funding is the research can be taken in the wrong direction due to lobbying, like corn ethanol.
Lol (This), but I like where this experiment could go. Obviously you're killing a living organism, but it's not like it can't be replaced (in most cases anyway)
It was banned during Bush then Obama repealed the ban. It's one of those back-and-forth illusion of change issues.
This doctor (im assuming) designed a spray gun that effectively sprays skin cells onto burn wounds, and apparently the patient highlighted in this video had completely healed 2nd degree burns 4 days after leaving the hospital ...
