My schools Young Americans for Liberty chapter that I helped start just had a bake(d) sale today to educate people about how the drug war has failed and the truth about marijuana along with its medical benefits. Our school is very anti drug and one of the most politically inactive schools in the country. We did everything with no school approval and spent all day trying to convert people to the side of personal freedom and choice regarding legalizing pot... I actually managed to convince a few skeptics and one person who was very very anti drugs. Our next event will hopefully be a general seminar on the constitution and knowing your rights when dealing with the police. Its been a great day
this is awesome activism, if we would even call it that! you should try to record the lectures and post them to the net!
Once we set the event up ill be sure to try. Wed like to get someone to come in to talk to the school about it but we are unfunded so well probably have to result to club members but both me and the president/my roommate have had substantial experience dealing with the police and are kind of dorks when it comes to knowing our rights...we put together a presentation on smuggling that might be useful too. Im all for legalization activism but while its illegal knowing how to get around unjust laws is just as important as changing them.
