Hey everybody. I germinated 2 seeds from some nice danky just fine and stuck them in some backyard soil that I've been keeping nice and moist, but now I'm having regrets. Should I dig up these 2 seedlings and stick them in a couple of plastic party cups with some good store bought soil? I had no soil on hand at the time of the seeds' sprouting. I thought the normal soil would be relatively healthy for the plant but now I'm worried about winter in a couple months when the temperature may get to a low of around 30. I've included a picture so I can get the best help possible, one seedling is on the left and one is on the right. Any advice is appreciated, this is my first time...
Start over. You could try to transplant them, but I wouldn't give them much chance for survival. You need to read all you can on what it takes to have a succesful indoor grow. Then, make a plan and execute it. We are hear to help, but you have to be willing to help yourself too. Start with the stickies and grow journals. They are your best bets to coming up with a good plan that will work for you and your space. Good luck.
Sorry, when I hear party cups i automatically think indoor. In that case, they look nice and healthy. I am not saying where you planted them is the best place in the world, but they will probably continue to grow there. If you want to move them when they get a little stronger that would probably be OK. The one problem I see is that we are moving into the natural time for MJ to flower. So, if you were to leave them outside, the light cycle would probably induce flowering shortly. Not that this is a bad thing, but it will substantially decrease your yield to have zero veg time. Good luck.
Cool, thanks for the advice =). I didn't want to save the seeds till next year. This is just kind of an experiment, if I have confidence from doing this i might pursue some new seeds or clones next spring.
I've grown weed before, but I think the seeds I had this time must've been bad. Just before Tax Day (4/15) is when I usually start germinating the seeds. I never had a problem germinating them before when I lived in N. FL but now I live in N. AL. That shouldn't be an issue but info just the same. For two years I haven't been able to germinate any seeds. A couple of months ago, out of frustration, I threw a couple of seeds out in my wife's garden and low and behold...we had some volunteers! 5 of them! I had some problems with where they were located and when they looked like they were going to die if I didn't do something...I transplanted them into a pot. And they have been doing GREAT ever since. Here's the kicker - they're flowering and they are still just babies. I've never had any plants IN the house over the winter. I'm not sure what I should do or if I should just bring them in so they don't freeze and then put them outside again in the spring assuming they survive. Best case scenario is they grow tremendously over the winter and yield some CRAZY amounts of bud next year. Worst case scenario, they die. Anybody have a clue what I can expect?
