Am I decarbing wrong?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by GrowingNewb, Apr 8, 2018.

  1. I've followed this recipe before and while it works for me, the weed always comes out looking a lot more brown than the video and I'm worried I'm diminishing the effects of it. Check the photos, the pan shows how brown mine gets after just the first step.

I first bake just the weed at 250* for 20 minutes. Then put it on the crackers and bake it all at 350* for 25 minutes. 20180408_081226.png 20180408_075520.jpg

  2. Here's how I do it: Ardent Lift. No timing, temp or other pesky details to worry about, perfect results every time.

No, I do not work for the company in any way - just a satisfied user.

  3. Your decarbed weed looks fine.

It's hard to know whether that firecracker recipe decarbs correctly.
It, like most other firecracker recipes, uses a 2 stage decarb:
    (1) 250 for 30 min is optimal air decarb for that temp, so you did roughly 67%.
    (2) 350 F for 25 min in oil decarbs partially. Air decarb at that temp is just 3 minutes of so, but in-oil decarb takes much longer. I don't know what percentage addtional decarb happened in the PB.

Firecrackers are very potent, among the most potent edibles possible.
But they are best when the herb is accurately decarbed.

An alternate, slightly stronger recipe is
    (1) Decarb ONCE for 40 min @ 240 F.
    (2) Grind to fine powder if possible for best absorption. Grind after decarb, before is too sticky.
    (3) Mix into nut butter or nutella. Some people like to cook in a little lecithin using low heat for a short time.
Each gram herb used will supply about 150 mg to the mixture, so keep track of weights of everything used.

I agree with Acewiza. Ardent Lift is the best appliance I own.

  4. Thanks for the great info! Unfortunately I don't have $210 to blow right now as I'm saving up for a house, maybe in the future though.

  5. Are you covering your weed during decarb? Making sure your pan is tightly sealed with foil is important, also when you take it out of the oven after decarb do not uncover it for 20 minutes, this lets any vapors that escaped settle back down into the bud

    Decarb
240 F for 40 minutes. Uncovered cookie sheet in my junk toaster oven.
You can find used toaster ovens for 5-10 bucks used at the local thrift store or new for 20-40 bucks.

5 grams cannabis (decarbed) Hash, weed, shatter, anything
2.5 teaspoons oil (Coconut oil is the top choice)( any cooking oil works)
1/2 teaspoon lecithin (any kind) (Soy, Sunflower, Liquid, Granules, Powder.
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes
    Freeze
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes.
Makes 30 (0) sized caps. Really fucking potent ones. Do take care as this is as wickedly strong as it gets made with concentrates.
Just a few drops can be to much. :)
