Almost Unbearable Tragedy

  1. Hey guys.

I haven't been on for a few days, just been busy with school and shit. But the last time I was on, I was boasting about my new Ehle set-up, named Hempel. Well, guess what? My friend broke that shit.

I won't post pictures, the glass was beyond repair and has been thrown out. But the friend is a good guy, and is going to pay the whole price back. So now I'm looking at alternatives, particularly a 9mm HVY beaker, 13" tall. Same price as the Ehle... And 9mm seems like a good idea, considering what happened with this last tube.

So here's the thing. He broke $205 worth of stuff (the Ehle tube and my RooR diffy), so I'm making him pay me back $200. Because I would get the HVY from one particular website, and I won't have tons of cash to pay shipping, I want to order whatever I get for my new set-up from that website (if I didn't, I'd have to pay shipping from two places). The problem is, this website doesn't have any diffies that fit the 14mm joint on the HVY tube. But the tube comes with a two-slit diffy, better than nothing. So I have about $40 to spend on sooooommmmetthhhhinnnggggg -- on this website.

I'm between a grinder and a disk-diffused Luke Wilson bowl. The other alternative is that I just go to another website, and buy another 5mm Ehle and RooR diffy. What do you guys suggest?

One question I have is, what makes a disk-diffused bowl so good? Do they just increase flow, or what? Another thing I wonder is, will my SSFG inline ashcatcher fit on the HVY, which has such a low-profile joint?

Below are pictures. The first is of the HVY, with its diffy. The second is of the Luke Wilson bowl. A pic of the bong that broke can be found here: http://http://forum.grasscity.com/toking-tools/545085-new-ehle-setup.html. Tell me what you think, overall. WHAT DO I DO?

  2. Bump. Damn guys, I could use some help here!

  3. Save the 40 and get some herb to break it in.

  4. If I were you I'd just go to another site since they don't have the size you're looking for, it's hard to beat the quality of Roor's diffusers.

  5. i'd take the LW bowl and the 9mm HVY for sure! (actualy in around a month I plan to order the same pair lol)

I know the site your talking about - have you emailed them to ask about the diffy? the "HVY Mini Beaker" photo on the site is just a straight tube but actualy comes with a diffuser and ice pinches in the neck so it may be worth asking ;).

those LW bowls are AWESOME aswel, buy buy buy!

otherwise if the diffuser is a nogo theres plenty of cheaper options rather than buying a RooR diffuser; hell even the new weed* diffusers do a very good job if you can look past the label (and only like $14!?)

least your getting all your money back, id take that 200 and put it towards like a toro but thats just me..that LW slide is nice im going to get one soon. as is the ssfg a/c.

thats why i dont smoke bongs with my friends most dont have jobs i cant enforce the you break it you buy it without saying if they dont pay me ill kill them lol

  7. Invest in a nice padded case for your new tube, and a keck clip.
And teach your friends how to use a bong!!

  8. Imo every tube needs a LW disc. Best flowing slide ever.

Alex K's showerhead diffusers shit all over ROOR.de pierce hole diffys imo... but I don't think I've ever seen one in 14mm. I haven't looked though.

  9. I see a 6-slit diffuser with a restriction? anyways it will diffuse just fine. and it won't clog like the roor diffy. when you use the roor diffy, the top set of holes are the only ones that diffuse anyways until you clear.

the dd slide is a great buy. your ssfg will fit if its 14mm

  10. Btw its not the diffuser thats 14.5 mm on that tube its the slide that goes into it thats 14.5mm. I suspect the diffuser is an 18.8 bushing style reducer diffuser.

  11. itzbutters: I know man, I just lucked out that this friend sells pills, so he tends to have money... But some of my friends could never pay, which puts me in a weird place. I want them to be able to smoke with me, and I want to use the tube pretty frequently; but if my boys can't afford to back up their mistakes, I probably shouldn't let them hit it. I dunno. I just want to be able to trust them with my stuff, my bong isn't more important than they are...

nycdiesel: I already have a nice case for both my accessories and for my tube... And my friends are all pros with bongs, but this kid just got high as fuck, and when he put it down it wasn't quite perfectly balanced, and tipped OFF A DESK. I'll tell my friends not to put my next piece on the edge of anything, but when they get high I'm not even sure they'll remember -- it seems like common-sense in the first place!

sansemillaplease: I appreciate your testamony for the LW dd, I've read what you have to say about lots of shit and almost always agree with you. My ssfg inline is really smooth, and it would be awesome to have a serious-flowing slide to make full use of it... I think that might be a part of my next purchase.

What do you guys think the HVY diffy would be like? I am especially interested in how you think it'll work in a beaker, I've used them before but never owned one. So, are beakers a lot like straight-tubes regarding diffies? There's more water in a beaker, so I wonder if maybe you don't need as good a diffuser to get better filtration?

  12. I would say just watch anyone who uses it very carefully, make some room for a designated place to set the tube down, preferably somewhere close to the ground.
Whenever I let someone hit my bing who I don't know has experience, first I set some ground rules, such as don't blow into the bong, don't touch this or that, and that if they break my tube I will kill them. That usually works to make sure there are no mistakes.
