  3. St Nick is a paedophile imho.

Despite being a libertarian and having the up most hatred of the British establishment, Thatcher did have a good point here about socialist scum:

  4. noun
    noun: socialism
    1. a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
can someone point to a country that does this?

  5. Such a definition is impossible to impose practically simply because we are pack animals with a natural hierarchy. There will always be the strong who will take over resources without true cooperative behaviour.

  6. You could be right about that fat bastard, the whole headfirst down the tight chimney carry on has always struck me as dubious.

Jesus Christ was another Socialist, the man even had a traveling commune.

Haven't seen that Milk Snatcher clip in a few years. It's like someone running a nail along a blackboard listening to her. I can't do it to myself.

I was near Communist back in the day Ted, the good ole days when fighting the fasc was the weekend activity of choice. Then I discovered money and the game changed.

We need a stew these days, lashings of capitalism seasoned with Socialism. A true Socialist state will never happen as a true Libertarian state will never happen but we could have smaller communities.

  7. Socialism is an ideal .. whereas Capitalism is what we have to settle down with and endure, as a result of our inability to achieve this ideal.

The real problem here is the fact that people will never be fully satisfied, no matter which system they live under. The grass is always greener on the other side, we all want something different, we all want change .. even if it's just for the sake of change. There's never been a political system that has lasted for more than a couple of centuries.

The real problem in this world is Suffering.

  8. why not let the individual decide how they want to spend their income? why does it matter if they want to give 5% or 50% of it away to their community?

  9. I think most folks would opt for the 5% no?

  10. Socialism is awesome...if you're the one with power.

  11. Probably for the folks who see it as they HAVE to give where-as there are folks who would give more if they choosed to,
Whatever....why is what someone gives for charity anyone else's business?

  13. The bigger issue is a little more complex than that.

There is only a limited amount of control people have over their lives. You can't just wake up one day and decide to become a pilot, or make a living as a painter (pretty sure those days are gone by now .. lol).

Even if you were a rocket scientist - you'll be unemployed if there is no demand, for rocket scientists. The market ultimately chooses your destiny.

Then there is also the issue of rent and land ownership. You have people who have been fortunate enough to inherit land, forcing you to give up 40-60% of your income just so you can have a place to live. House prices are increasing exponentially all over the world, because land and housing are in limited supply. Pretty soon it will be impossible for the average earner to even live in a trailer on a 5x5 square meter patch of land. All the land is taken.

I really think that taxes are a pin-prick compared to the exploitative effect that rents and the housing market have on the working class. Couple that with globalization, automation, job loss, etc.

If you haven't noticed, libertarianism just isn't IT these days anymore. It's either rugged authoritarian nationalism, or socialism.. but libertarianism is dead. People are angry, and it isn't hard to see why.

  14. How do you feel about state-funded education*, with sensible restrictions (5000 engineers and 500 humanists, not 5000 humanists and 500 engineers, etc)

I think this is socialism's biggest selling point, as a population schooled in critical thought AND educated to match the current economic climate's demand for skills is muchos buenos

I benefit like a motherfucker from it rn have finished my education and I'm forking over that high tax bracket like a rabid dog, TAKE MY MONEY, give this gift to the next wave of tribesfolk

*Not the safe space monstrosities we see on youtube; all kinds of education from carpentry to satellite construction

  15. In a way I think they both go hand and hand but you can't have socialism without capitalism

Capitalism is great if you want to make money and do something with your life

Socialism is great if you want to be poor and lazy.

Capitalism affords you that luxury to enjoy life, where as socialism keeps you down and equal

Without capitalism, where would the money come from for socialism?

  16. I don't know what world you live in but if I decided one morning I wanted to be a pilot I can do that. More easier to become a painter though. All I have to do is go on the Internet and sign up for pilot school. Learn how to fly and take a test to get my pilot license. To be a painter all I have to do is learn how to paint. Fortunately there are no liceces required to paint where I live. But the catcher is, I have to be a good painter to earn business and to be able to support myself To say no one has that "control" over their lives is wrong

also, if I work hard and brought a thousand acres to hand down to my family, I'm a bad guy? My kids are bad people for inheriting that land??????
What is yalls fascination on inheritances?
I think you are jealous because you never got anything from a relative so you Gota attack the people who did

Instead of focusing your negative energies hating on people and attacking people, why not spend that energy on bettering yourself so YOU can give your kids an inheritance.

  18. I liked him mainly for his integrity as well. I'm libertarian.

Just jumping on the bandwagon because it's funny, in a sad way that he's gone. He actually cared, you know

  19. yup he got the Ron Paul treatment from his party.. so i do feel their pain. Bernie had a legit shot though, which makes it sadder.
Also feel for those that campaigned, donated, knocked on doors etc only to have it not count.
Politics aside, the man had a right to run for president and he deserved a fair shot.
