Hello all (or at least the people who look in this thread). I did my first outdoor grow this year. The strain was purple maroc from female seeds. Started them at home and let them chill in the backyard around 2nd week of may. After that they were moved to the grow site. In the background of the second attachment is the watering system I made. It kept my ladies alive and happy throughout the grow. I didn't have to check on them once all summer (even though I still did like every 3 weeks). It is solar powered and I was pleased with its performance. It watered for me every day for 5 months or so. More info and pictures on the watering system later. I made some mistakes which I will list later but ended up with about 6 ounces of the best tasting bud I have ever had. I was super happy with this grow.
Nice damn job Crombwell...better than my first grow! Really interested in the solar powered watering system!
Thanks pork! When I go back home this weekend I will take some pictures of the guts of the system. Here is the basic principal. The system uses (2) 12V 7 Amp Hour Non-spillable lead acid batterys wired in parallel. I have a 10 watt solar panel wired to the batterys via a 3 Amp solar charge controller. There is a 1 week digital timer as well that I can set to turn on for as long as I want, whenever I want, any day of the week. This is all wired to a pump that sucks water through a custom Filter from a water source and distributed to my plants. All of the equipment (except for the solar panel itself) was housed in non crush-able water proof cases. I plan on making an article at some point on how to make them with specific part specifications and things to do (not to do).
Very cool. I would do anything to not have to go down into that tick-infested hellhole in the springtime.
Just keep in mind the visibility of the PV modules (panels). They really need unobstructed visibility to the sun, else you experience efficiency degradation, and fast. This, along with the fact that they are almost always very dark in color, they stick out like a sore thumb from the air. Just something to keep in mind for the guerrillas. I know for me, the very last thing I want is 'anything' that would attract the attention of 'eyes in the sky'. CJ - Congrats on your first grow and thanks for sharing the details. Did you mention anything about the upcoming year, regarding plans?
Sorry I has been a while for the update but here are some photos. I will also start a new thread for it. IMG_7447_zpscea02fdc.jpg Photo by NickCulovic | Photobucket password is "grasscity"
