Hi folks, well, I'm 3 weeks into flowering on a 12/12 cycle and despite my early problems things (fingers crossed) are looking great! I went for SOG and had 22 plants, 3 of which didn't grow like the others. I think I must have damaged the tap root when re-potting them (muppet) Anyway, that left me with 19 and while I don't know how or why, they are all female! Damn! I'll see if I can upload some pictures in a while. Laters
Thanks, much appreciated! I've tried to test a number of different styles with this, my first indoor grow, and went SOG 'cos I couldn't wait! lol Anyways, I'll be trying Scrog next and already have the next batch in growbags outside, hardening and growning so I can bring them in as established little shrubs once my current grow is done. I'm only just 2 weeks into 12-12 so I gues another 4-5 weeks before harvest. I'm glad I left some un-trimmed and pinched the heads out of others. It gave me a real comparison and Ill def be doing that again once the next grow is up to the required initial height. I also leaned some interesting lessons about the size of the pot too. It's not just size, but the depth has been a real factor in determining the speed and height my little ladies have achieved. 'if you want big pot - get a big pot!' Cheers
I don't know how I haven't harvested them yet - honestly, I'm now making myself leave them for 2-3 days at a time and the changes are unbelieveble. I'll get some more pictures real soon too, Just can't explain how excited I am about it! None of my mates smoke and I've not told anyone about this, apart from my girlie, so it's quite a releif to share here! Laters
wow having all females and 3 fuck ups is what id call a success (sp?) congrates, update the thread every week with pics im curious to see how they turn out
Hi again folks, back with some more pics (for Mike) and some bad news.... I've been trying to keep away from them as I caught myself over watering / ferting them so 7 days later and one of my little ladies had grown balls like a bull. Bollocks! Anyways, Here are some new pix...
Here's the sneeky ladyboy that sprouted white whisps before growing balls... (actually, it was probably wishful thinking that all my 1st batch could poss be female!)
BTW, if anyone has any idea's as to what it is I'm growing, I'd be glad to hear. I was told that it was Northern Lights, or poss Skunk, but as it was just bad seed I have no idea what it is...
looks good! Get them hermis out tho! Consider yourself one of the lucky ones, its not too often you get so many females in one batch! the batch going now of mine has a 100% female rate, and on top of that i got 2 cuttings
I've honestly lost track, about 10 weeks I guess. I sowed 'em indoors, let them sprout in a soil mixture inside a black plastic bag in a warm dark room and 5 days later, bam. Once they were 2 inches high I transplanted them to bigger, deeper pots, about 8 inches deep and left them on a window sill, then I bought some lights on 15th Feb and installed them later that week. I had them on 18-6 for 4 weeks, shifted to 24-7 for a week and switched back because they didn't seem to like it. They are in their 4th week of flowering now so won't be long! Cheers
I did wonder - I just put up a new thread on the beginners board as I wasn't sure if that's what I had! Bollocks! But at least I still have the rest of the gang! Outstanding - it's giving me a real sense of achievement doing this!
yeah bad luck bopper...still you are on top of it.... i had something similar happen to me...all female plants from bagseed....feminised by previous generation hermies i assume....in the end though only 2 out of 9 plants went hermie....its all in my journal.... anyway the best advice i can give you is keep watching em to the end.....they can turn hermie at any stage.... good luck and happy growing
Cheers for that, I didn't realise that but I'll watch up more carefully now. The pictures of the hermes are at http://forum.grasscity.com/showthread.php?t=60389 and they did just creep up on my having left them for 6 days. I can't believe how quickly it happened. I'm assuming that the heads will still be smokeable though? Either that or I'll have a stab at making some hash once they're a bit drier - opinions please?
depending on the weather in your area, i would put the hermies outside.. they still get bud, just not as good, and loads of seeds. and you can just use the ice hash extraction method, or even ISO oil! im betting they would yeild alot more if you put them outdoors
Thanks for the advice but I've already chopped them. Turned out there were 5 of the little suckers so I'm gutted, but hey, the glass is still a lot more that half full so I'll make the best of it. Planting outside isn't an option for me - nosey neighbours and all, but thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
