Howdy! So, I take the common recipe of 1 cup alfalfa meal + 1/4 cup kelp meal to 5 gallons water and steep for 48 hours, stirring a few times a day, only this time I add the blended puree of 2 oz (dry) sprouted mung beans at the beginning. Anybody ever try this? Fool's errand?
They are both some good shit there Maynard. I like alfalfa meal in my compost (depending on cost) & use both in my indoor soil mix & top dressing. Cost effective as a tea??? Yeah I'm sure it couldn't hurt??? No idea about the beans.
I'm just daydreaming a bit with this one. Thought that maybe the additional enzymes from the bean sprouts might help get the NPK & minerals out. On the other hand, maybe that increased activity would break down some of the other beneficial stuff like hormones, etc., that make alfalfa/kelp special. I suppose that I could just experiment, but thought I'd troll for some wisdom first. Looking for an "every so often" quick acting plant tonic. Organic alfalfa pellets are pretty cost effective by the cup.
Sprouted mung beans will be beneficial. The enzymes will help use whats already there invthe soil. There is also sime good npk in mung beans. Soy beans are 6-1-2, I would suspect mung is pretty close. Cheers Os
