Alex's White Widow / White Rhino CFL/HPS grow

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by atreyupowa, Oct 21, 2010.

  1. Heeeello everyone. I finally got a hold of a camera and I can make a proper photo journal :).

    100_9779.jpg The cupboard
    100_9781.jpg White widow
    100_9782.jpg White rhino
    100_9783.jpg Closeup

(Id appreciate it if someone could help me by telling me how to upload images str8 into the thread )

The setup at the moment , are the CFL's you see in the images ( 23-26 watts each ).
A fan blowing straight onto the plants. And a computer fan taking air in the cupboard.I usually leave part of the cupboard open so temperatures dont rise.

Today I decided I wanted some good buds so I invested in a HPS lamp of 400watts.Im in about week 3 or smth, not quite sure. Should I mount the HPS now and remove the CFL's or should I install it once they enter their flowering cycle ?

Im using Biobizz All-mix soil and I just started feeding them Biobizz Bio-grow every second watering.

  2. bump, ive got the HPS right next to me ready so I could use an answer

  3. Sooo can anyone help me put this together ? rly dont get it

Just follow the schematics as displayed on the ballast.
It'll tell you which wire is supposed to go where.
Basically two wires go from mains to the ballast on the left side and two wires will go from the ballast's right side to the bulb.
Often there's a third connection for ground between the ballast and bulb and mains and the ballast.

  5. Thank you .. im not that good with electricity related issues :p . I'll get an image of the instructions better in a bit, maybe that will make things clear

  6. 100_9789.jpg Translate please hahaha :p

Hey Atrey! Those babies look awfully healthy, you seem to be off to a good start. I would let them grow a little more, maybe 12 inches tall, before flipping the switch on the 400w HPS. Of course that all depends on the height of your cabinet. You will get a little more stretch when you hit 'em with the HPS. I used two 400w HPSs and was pleased with the results. When you get them as tall as you want, put them in total darkness for 36 hours, then turn on your HPS with a 12 on 12 off cycle. The dark period will trigger them into flowering. Check out my thread below. I'm along for the ride, good luck to ya'

  8. Thank stepdude, dont worry bout that I still have to figure out how to put together the HPS lamp :p. Ill be checking ur thread in a bit :smoke:

  9. Finally assembled the HPS ballast and everything and id like your opinion on wether i should put it on from now instead of the CFL's because now that i change pots ( see pics ) the light is abit uneven.

100_9790.jpg The new pots ( left white widow , right white rhino )

    100_9793.jpg White widow

100_9795.jpg White rhino .. kinda smaller cuz i had it in a smaller pot for a while

So do you think i should replace the CFL's with the 400watt hps ?.. im out of money so I cant get anything new. For my next grow though I defenitely be getting a MH to switch. Anyways this is my first grow so still learning :hello::wave:

  10. oookay so update... the white widow appears to have a yellow mark on just one leaf ..not that concerened but do u know what it could be?

    100_9802.jpg

and the white rhino has a weird leaf formation ... not concerned either but might as well show u. today i fed them with some bio-grow and noticed i need to put in some more soil cause of a fail transplant ;p

  11. Loooong overdue update but here we go..

On the outside ( left-ish ) is the white rhino and on the inside white rhino.
    100_9911.jpg

Buds are smaller than i expected on the rhino, eventhough they might look large on the pictures. Biobizz nutes kinda suck as i noticed on this grow as i used bio grow and bio bloom, which didnt much. I would like it if u could suggest some good nutes to use on my next grow to get some massive buds. :hello:
