Air pump control

  1. Would it be ok to use a fan speed controller to slow down a compressor type air pump? For a dwc

  2. Never tried that.....I'd first add a valve to the air line to control the flow...very inexpensive first try

  3. I do have valves on line but figured the back pressure is what would do damage or overheat pump ?

  4. Why do you want to slow it down?

  5. Don't slow it down, add a buffer chamber between the output and the valve.

Back pressure actually is a good thing as it doesn't let the piston slam into the ends (piston pump) and on a diaphragm the diaphragm doesn't get flexed as much.
