hi everyone I just got 2 magicool evaporative air conditioners: HTML: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://go-electrical.co.uk/imagestore/mxw/520/mxh/520/resources/20070602165227-4143ex.jpg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.go-electrical.co.uk/view/area/Catalog/section/Details/for/ProductOption/ref/1193&usg=__dCPh4KBTP8ybUX3iNjPNKDS9wYs=&h=520&w=314&sz=93&hl=en&start=5&sig2=8pNMfwjFwuW-HaFN1V3qEw&um=1&tbnid=V9tAjy7P8rHKKM:&tbnh=131&tbnw=79&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dconvair%2Bmagicool%2Bevaporative%2Bair%2Bconditioner%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1&ei=UoAoStDrK8rRjAfroc2jAg I put them in my grow area (in my attic) which is roughly 7ft wide x 7ft long x 6ft high. I have managed to lower the temps by 7-8 degrees farenheight during the night and i was wondering if there were any ways of getting them to run cooler? I have tried adding half a dozen pieces of ice to each one but it didn't really help at all!!!! Product spec says: " Evaporative Cooling works by drawing fresh air from a partially open door or window and cooling it naturally by passing it through water soaked pads providing cooled air that is refreshingly natural with no harmful CFC gasses." However, i have no fresh air supply as i am growing in an attic!! - any ideas? I need to be able to lower temps by 12 f during the day!!! to get to 78f Is there anything i can do (or maybe add to the water) to make them run cooler? They are currently placed roughly 10 inches above ground level opposite each other, roughly 5 ft apart. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance peace
not too sure about that one cantharis, i won them both at an auction. There are two settings on the machines; one has a snowflake (which i'm guessing is air con - doesn't raise humidity much), and the other one is a solid teardrop shape?! Now the teardrop shaped one raises humidy a lot! If i keep the snowflake setting on, i can lower temps by about 7-8f. Can i perhaps mix something in with the water to make them run cooler? I just need them to give me colder air! This isn't an easy one Any other ideas?
The product spec you quoted would appear to indicate not. Proper portable aircon units have ducting that goes out of a window - hot air is blown outside, while cold air is blown into the room. There is no reservoir of water (or water soaked pads).
