I've been house/dog-sitting for a brother. I fed and watered on Friday morning and then left, knowing that I'd probably been over-zealous with the nutrients. But this strain seems to have a high threshold so I wasn't too worried. I returned the next day and, instead of finding the first signs of mild nutrient toxicity, as I feared, I opened my grow room door to find my carbon filter had somehow detached from its inline fan, escaped its strap and smashed into the main canopy. The whole back side was flattened. I screamed like a man falling off a cliff and flew into triage mode. Thankfully, the filter had not broken a single branch. Unfortunately, in addition to flattening about a third of the canopy, it had ripped through the secondary net in several places.

Happily, I am at the top of Week 5 and the buds have tightened up and are putting on weight so, even before this happened, all 4 plants were beginning to need additional support. With the second net released, the main canopy flopped into a tangled mess. Under these circumstances, retying the net and getting everything spaced and even was incredibly difficult and I had to spend some time under the canopy just...sorting! I think that the worst of the damage is a few days of slow growth/recovery and I used the opportunity to thin out the canopy again so, taken a whole, not as tragic as I had initially screamed!

As this is my first successful scrog, I am still learning and this accident really helped me to see that my weaving was incredibly haphazard in places, often moving a branch into a LESS advantageous place under the lights! The two plants on the right side of the room had to be unwoven quite a bit when I realized that NONE of the main colas were under the light. The prime real estate was occupied by popcorn and air!

Once the emergency had passed, I realized that the leaves were looking a bit too royal-green and were showing some burnt tips. I flushed them (filtered at ph 650) then fed very lightly. I am not at all certain that this was even necessary but I figured with all of the other stress they had just been through, maybe this would help them to recover more quickly.

    Finally, two questions:
    1. Any experience with brown/grey spotting that quickly becomes crispy and narcotic? There wasn't very much and I am not necessarily worried but I am also not sure what it is.
      • Could it be I let them get too dry with the big fan up too high?
      • Could it be spots where the leaves were accidentally splashed and then sat under the lights?
      • Could it be an excess of something? I feed fox farms big bloom, tiger bloom and calmag.
      • Cause for concern?
    2. There are some scattered white spots that could be bite marks. IDK. I treated these plants with Azamax just as they began flowering and - although the room is not bug free- I haven't been too worried. But I am terrified of bud rot. When I grew outdoors for the first time, I had terrible caterpillars and the bud rot was so sickening... I have always been in the habit of soaking the buds with BT every 5 days or so.
      • Do you think the BT is unnecessary indoors? I cannot keep the door closed at all times due to the heat. Does BT help with something like thrips or spider mites or is it really only for larval bugs that eat their way out of your buds? (Barf.)
After triage, everything is still leaning....
