Like music to me is so important, I owe it to you all so much too for putting me on to more stuff I might have not heard otherwise. I saw Derek Trucks play at that Blumenthal performing arts center. If it's the same one I'm thinking of it was a converted old church turned into a theatre. Really cool venue with stained glass windows everywhere.
I appreciate that, brother. This is the reason I drop this shit off, for someone else to come through and pick it up (and I hope that somebody else does the same for me). Without friends and music blogs I wouldn't know about most of this stuff so music sharing is the way to go Here's some other music threads you should check out: http://forum.grasscity.com/music-genres-bands-artists/1069150-want-your-mind-opened.html http://forum.grasscity.com/music-genres-bands-artists/931493-best-reggae-shit-listen.html http://forum.grasscity.com/music-genres-bands-artists/993594-soul-funk-etc-thread.html http://forum.grasscity.com/music-genres-bands-artists/1001149-insights-thread.html Blumenthal (in downtown Charlotte) has multiple (7?) theaters, I saw Fela! in the Belk Theater. I don't remember if it has stain glass windows, some of the other ones might. It could be an old church, idk, not too familiar with Charlotte.
My next Blumenthal African adventure Blumenthal Performing Arts, Belk Theater, Knight Theater, Spirit Square, Charlotte, NC - Hugh Masekela
Yeah i'm familiar with those threads as well, I just seem to not come to GC for months on end then out of nowhere come back. I don't know why. I remember now it was the Mcglohon Theatre at Spirit Square. Really cool, small venue. Derek Trucks had the place completely packed, standing room only. It was one of those rare shows where he did 2 nights. He did 2 or 3 sets on Friday night, then another 2 or 3 sets the following night. You really feel right up on the stage. They played a 19 minute version of Coltrane's "My Favorite Things" Still one of the most moving live performances I've seen.
Never listened to him, I've listened to some Allman Brothers. That Coltrane guitar cover sounds dope though. Charlotte is 3 hours away so it's cool if you're going to stay a day or so. I wouldn't take that drive (there and back) in one day to see just anybody. Most of the shows I see are in Asheville now.

I got a good one for you my brotha, here's some Congolese (then called Zaire) Kiri Kiri. Kiri Kiri was a dance rhythm of the late 60's/Early 70's that was created as a innovation idea started by guitarist Nico Kasanda formerly known as the "Docteur". I was born in Lome, Togo. I grew up hearing the sounds of African music. It was mostly west african music. It's feel good music. Best music ever.
