Its about 5 inches tall in a 6 inch pot, starting to grow fairly rapid since I started feeding, I dont see any roots through the drain holes yet. I would feel better if it was in a bigger pot though, should I just go ahead & transplant to a bigger pot now? Also, when transplanting, is it best to remove all the dirt from the roots? or just turn the pot upside down & take whatever comes with the plant to the bigger pot & fill the void with new soil. I'm using 4 large CFL lights for grow about an inch or two away from the plant, in a cabinet with Mylar walls. Thanks for any help.
Woah -- do not mess around with transplanting, def. dont shake away the dirt from the rootball..just very carefully slide it out and gently pop it in the bigger pot.. And if it's too young to have even filled out the pot a little bit, I would wait to transplant.. Good luck
yes i would say transplant them water them pretty well and get your next pot ready with loose soil take your hand and transplant with the roots and soil in tact so its one big root ball. I usually start my young plants in 24-32 ounce paper or plastic cups because its easy to cut down the side of the cup and move the hole ball of roots and soil to the next container. Make sure your pots are 3-5 gallons and have a hole on the bottom. Make sure the roots stay in the ball of soil they are in now when you transfer you might have to hold the ball and soil in the new container with one hand and add soil around it until its level with the other
