  1. So christmas is coming up as well as my girlfriends birthday. She used toplay piano for her church a couple of years ago but kind of drifted away from it. She always talks about playing piano so i was thinking i wanted to get her a piano keyboard thing lol. Anybody have any experience with these? also im not a rich man so any help on finding an affordable one would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Buying a used one will save some money too

  3. Well... Usually a store.. or Amazon.com... is a much better place to look for piano's or keyboard than grasscity...

But thats just my 2 pennies.

  4. lol ya well i was kind of hoping to get an opinion from someone on here rather than the reviews that seem fake on the websites

  5. amazon.com really is your best bet though, they tend to have cheaper prices on electronics than at retail stores, and the reviews usually are authentic and reliable, just check both the positive and negative reviews to get a good feel for the product. you could get a good basic keyboard for 70-200 dollars from casio and yamaha, both are good brands and affordable

  6. Make sure it has weighted keys to make it feel and play like a true piano. Cheap keyboards have keys that could be pressed by a light breeze and it ruins the feel.

Used digital piano is the way to go. They are meant to sound and play as close to a piano as they can get while still being portable. You could find a used one for $200.

  7. Here is your safest, cheapest bet:

Buy the Key Rig 49, which is now the Key Station 49 (new name).
Connect to your computer, and have fun!

*knowledge of midi, daws, vst, computer audio routing necessary.

  8. Well, looks like neither of those keyboards have weighted or touch sensitive keys.

Touch sensitive is important because a keyboard without it will play the same exact volume note whether you smash the key or lightly and gently press it. It will sound cheap and not dynamic at all.

Try for a used one with this feature, and if you want an even better feel, weighted keys are the way to go, but for a piano player, it would probably disappointing without at least touch sensitivity.
