AE's Winter Attic Grow.

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Scars, Dec 3, 2012.

  1. Hey everyone. :smoking:

I am trying to learn how to grow indoors, organically with a LED light. Here's what I have been up to. Just looking for some personal winter smoke. :smoking::wave:

My 4x2x2 Winter Attic Cabin. I tapped my central air conditioning. It serves as a passive intake from the air conditioned bathroom when AC is off. I got a 200 CFM fan exhausting air out. BlackStar 135 watt Grow Light. Small box fan for air circulation. :)

I chose to test grow 2 World of Seed Afghan Kush Ryders and two Pakistani bagseeds from my tiny yet humble seed collection. My medium is my recycled 100% organic soil from my previous grow.

I have had 100% germination by soaking seeds in a cup of rain water with a drop of SuperThrive. Once they sink, I dropped seeds in 20 oz of rich, earthy organic soil. On November 25th, later all seeds broke ground and I had my start at day one from seed.

Today, after my morning Lemon Tea N' Blaze, I decided to make a journal since nothing has died within the first week! :p :smoking:

I love everything there is about growing. I have tried/love growing outdoors and will return next season, but I thought it might be neat to try indoors over the winter. Any advice/criticism is greatly appreciated!!!

In the meantime, I'm going to smoke me some of this, sooooooo............. :yummy: :bongin: :smoke:

    Thanks for looking!

  2. I am very eager to see how your grow turns out. I have been thinking about doing this exact grow. Same light and size so I am def subbed.

What size pots will you finish in? Are you using the led all the way through? Or just for veg?
Is the listed watt the draw or the output?

Sorry to bombard you with questions :hello:

  3. Sup dude, thank you for stopping by my humble grow. :)

I will be finishing in 2 gallon containers. I will also be using the 135 watt unit all the way through veg/flower with no other supplement lights. I read somewhere (ICMAG) that this light only draws about 75 true watts. Not really impressive but my 2x2 foot print is the exact size recommended for this light. I will try it out and see what happens. If I get an ounce or a tad more, I will be happy. :)

If anyone has any other questions or comments, feel free to ask.

  4. How tall do you plan on plants finishing? It looks like the light intensity on that light fades a bit after 12-14 inches. Looks like it would work well for scrogging.

  5. I do not want more than 2 feet of vertical growth. I am also thinking of making a small SCROG screen. A 2x2 screen full of bud would probably yield the most on my micro setup. I am just not sure how to go about it since 2 of my plants are autoflower and 2 are photoperiod. I want the AKR to get big so I have the light running 24/7. At the same time, I do not want to veg 2 bagseed plants for 60+ days for them to turn out male/hermaphrodite.

I'll figure out what to do as the plants continue to grow....because at the end of the day, I'm still just a lazy stoner.

  6. Just went up to the attic and gave them a 1/4 water bottle worth of Alfalfa/Kelp Tea. I noticed that roots were already poking out from some of the cups! I going to transplant in the next few days!

^Thanks mason, I am excited also!

Has anyone ever heard of the Tiered Transplant Method? I might try this so I don't end up with tiny autoflowers and eliminate transplant shock/stress. Input appreciated.

  9. The pic didn't come through.

So I got home and puffed a bowl and had an idea...

I think it's going to get crowded in your box with 4, and the other 2 reg strain I think might growing larger then your auto's.. But I could be wrong.. So what if you made a small scrog for one side and autos grown untouched on the other. Would help seperate the plants.

    But then again im stoned!

  10. Yeah, your stoned mind is on the right track. I now realize that I should have started less plants. To compensate, I might just switch to 12/12 when I feel the plants are in danger of outgrowing/overgrowing. This is just a small test grow and am "wingin' it" for the most part. We'll see how things go.

  11. Looks good so far, they are stretching a bit though.

  12. Thanks for the tip dude. I will get the light closer to the plant.

  13. Nice - sub'd :)

Also, I dont think you should be going 12/12 with autoflowers?

  14. Yeah man, I know that. I grew a Pakistani Ryder (auto) outdoors last year that only got about 12ish hours of light and it only got to about 1 foot tall and yielded like a half O at most. I only thought about doing that since I have 2 photo plants in the grow box too.

If I stay with a 24/0 light cycle as I have now. I will have 2 great autos with 2 overgrown photo plants. If I go 12/12 after a few weeks, I will diminish yields on the auto but will have 2 manageable photo-period plants to work with.

Like I said. I really don't care what I yield, as long as I don't have an overgrown, uncontrollable mess.

    We will see what happens.

    Hey nice gro!
I honestly suggest 18/6 or 20/4 for autos. The 24 hours of light actually gives them an excessive amount simply because they don't run on a light cycle at all. During that 4/6 hour period of darkness, the terpene production greatly increases. My last batch of Auto NL did AMAZING under 18/6 to finish out.

24/0 is viable though, and I'm definitely subbed to see how it all plays out! Nice LEDS!
EDIT: If you click my perpetual link in my sig, it will bring you straight to my Auto NL harvest.

    Happy growing :smoke:

  16. Yeah dude! I have been reading the same thing about light cycles.

Something about how plants react and use/store energy in the night hours.

Either way, I just picked up a Hydro Farm light timer. I will hook it up once I figure out what light schedule I want to run.

You didn't like my idea.. :(

My whole thoughts behind it was if you did a scrog on the side you could veg for for month and a half while filling in the scrog, allowing the autos to finish during your 20/4 light period. As soon as you harvest the autos flower the scrog.

I just think the reg strains if not controlled will get bigger then the autos for the fact it will jump into flower quick. If you don't control the 2 reg's I would imagine you will have to move light up, possibly taken away light intensity on your autos.

This is all just my stipulations. I havent seen a grow with regular and auto grown side by side.

  18. Nah bro, it's not like that at all. I am just watching the plants grow and keeping everyones opinion in mind. There is more to indoor growing than I thought and am learning as fast as I can. :)

  19. I know I'm just playing.

I think if I order seeds again I'm getting a bunch of auto's. But I'm going to start them a week or so apart.

That's cool man. Did you order your beans from the Attitude?

Actually, I used to have a bunch of auto freebies from the Attitude and these AKRs are the last of them. I'm trying to grow them out and get them out of the way so I can focus on better genetics.

I guess this grow is somewhat of a trial run. I don't really have a set game plan per-say. I basically just threw some seeds and dirt and am hoping to see what I can learn and get out of this experience.

Anywho, I know I ramble sometimes, so I will try to throw a pic here and there as often as I can to hopefully keep you guys entertained.
