Whould this acturally work for growin? http://www.aerogardendirect.com/pro...alog&pageName=aerogarden&viewProduct=2100-00W
These seem quite nice for the purpose they serve but when they boast of growing tomatoes and the like, I imagine they're leaving out that you'll only be growing grape or cherry tomatos. For small herbs and spices it'd be a nice kitchen aide but I think you'll swiftly run out of verticle height for ganja. From their FAQ: Q: How big is the AeroGarden? A: The AeroGarden has the footprint of a breadbox and is sized to fit conveniently under most cabinets. The AeroGarden measures 16" long by 10 1/2" wide by 15 1/2" high when it is first set up with the lights at the lowest possible setting, and 21" high at the highest level. Currently the AeroGarden comes in only one size. I think you could probably cut the cost by at least 50% by building your own. http://www.simplyhydro.com/system.htm#AEROPONIC The setup seems simple enough. I imagine the most expensive things you will purchase will be the pump and timer. You'll need a short-cycle timer capable of going into operation for X seconds every X amount of minutes. Roots must be misted more often in an aeroponic system to prevent drying. These are also more prone to plant loss because of power-outages. If roots go dry for too long the plant will swiftly feel the effects. Edit: Well, I just bothered to check SimplyHydro's front page and they're selling that exact system you linked. Some of the examples are, in fact, cherry tomato and smaller veggies like chili peppers. I'd stick with my recommendation to build your own.
