Advice on reflective material

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Saro, Sep 3, 2019.

  1. I have quite a bit of this bubble wrap mylar insulation roll. Obviously it is mylar on the outside of this material. Aside from the obvious insulation properties of this material, anyone else used or have any input from using this vs other materials? I am balling on a budget, so if I can use this and not be hurting myself by doing it, I'd like to. But straight panda plastic isn't too expensive and Ive had luck with that. Thanks in advance. Very new to this forum, but so far the majority of you on here are decent. Thanks.

  2. I would use it if it's what I had already....I've used car windshield visors, survival blankets, reflective plastic....
    Whatever works.

  3. Right. Yeah I'm leaning that way, my girl is definitely helping me lean that way too to save a couple bucks. In theory, and what I do know about reflection properties, it should be great. If I wasn't already working with a brand new strain to me, I'd Guinea pig it and just find out as I went. But my current situation isn't allowing for much "playing" either in budget or Sq footage. Thanks a ton for your response though. Brand new here, and so far everyone has been relatively chill. Thank you.

  4. careful with the survival thermal blankets. i would think they would hold a lot more heat in than just straight up mylar.

  5. Yeah, im not going that far with this. Just had access to quite enough of this for free. Free is good. Mylar is cheap. So if it's a huge difference, that I'm having a hard time seeing, than I'll go mylar. Ventilation and temp is not an issue in the room, so im not worried about the obvious insulating properties of the bubble wrap. But as far as I can see, as this is also good quality wrap, it literally is a quality sheet of mylar, bubble wrap insulation layer, another sheet of mylar. Also, i know that good quality light hoods are usually hammered, so I figured it'd be great.

  6. What paint is fairly comparable to the mylar stuff. I used the bubble mylar to lines the walls since im in a basement.

  7. I don't if any that bright exists, but pure white paint reflects pretty darn well...

  8. Yeah, im kind of a dork though and if I'm growing herb, I want to walk into a shiny ass reflective room. Just a dork like that. Hahaha. But you are very right about flat white paint. Rusto chalked white if I remember correctly.

  9. Flat white is supposed to be the highest reflecting material.

  10. I thought that was ORCA Grow Film?
