Hello and happy new year! This is my first attempt at growing. I’ve got my 3x3 tent with 600w LED light set up and ordered 20 seeds from ILGM , but my son came home with a clone (it’s in veg as far as I can tell -14.5 inches tall), so it’s history is unclear. All I know is that the person he got it from ‘had too many clones’ and knew that I’d had problems finding seeds , so bam..I adopted a Cannabis plant lol. I’m winging it, 18/6 for lighting, watered once bc the soil was dry when I stuck my finger an inch into it. Without knowing the strain I feel lost-as far as the seeds I ordered-I knew the basics , researched the genetics, tried to prepare myself but this plant was unexpected. Regardless, I will love it like it was my own Currently stands at 14 inches tall. Y’all think that’s close to flower time? I just don’t know how long to keep lights on veg mode before it’s time to flip to flower. I thought I’d be more on top of things but I was thrown into this as my first attempt.
AFAIK, if its a clone its going to be ready to go when it's the right height for your lights. Seedlings have to mature a bit, but remember this was material taken from a plant that was nearly or already at maturity. I would say that you should consider topping that plant down a node or two. This is going to cause it to fill out the soil with roots and then get all bushy above ground. It's hard to say how far it will stretch once you flip the lights. I would measure the whole thing, floor to top including the pot, and just double it for an estimate. You want the topmost parts to be about 6-12 inches from those lights, I think. Better to guess it will stretch like a very tall strain and have to lower the lights than the reverse!
