Adding lime juice to basic water to raise pH??

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by buckethead129, Aug 20, 2023.

  1. The water that I am currently using has a pH well above seven.. I diluted about five or gallons of water with some lime juice (citric acid) theoretically, it should make it not so basic, correct? I only put about 5 drops per gallon..

  2. I'd be tempted to fill a pot with your current soils and pour the water in and re check the ph of the runoff?

    as an example

  3. I did a slurry test today. The pH was very high… not to mention it seems like the water that I am using to water with all the time as well above 7

I took a decent amount from each pot, and made a slurry and let it sit for about 15 minutes. It definitely went down a little bit as it’s sad but it’s still a little bit high. I’m trying to get it down to about 5.8 to 6ish .. I think I am well above 7.5 right now. And to be honest, the only thing that’s making me think that is the twisted new growth. But I have to remember that I am under a shit load of watts of led, 650w in 4x4 and I have a light on almost 100% for a few days and that’s too high. I brought it down to about 50 to 75% and that seems to be perfect. Also growth seems to get like that when you touch a Scrog often.. I’m just gonna lightly acidify the water.. just buy a little bit. They seem to be doing fine right now.

  8. Those are so unreliable. It’s not even funny. I love how they come three in one. Soil moisture tester. PH tester. And light tester. Lolol bs. A quick, $24 to that shit in Chinese company that makes these lol.

  9. yeah I prefer those

  10. Yeah, it looked like my slurry runoff that sat for about 15 minutes was above seven. So I added a few squirts of lime juice. About 5-6 drops per gallon or so of lime juice to my regular water (which tested at almost like 7.5 on its own) obviously the soil acidified it a little bit.. I’m going to re-check the pH of all of them before I leave tomorrow. And add a little bit of more lime or lemon juice as needed. Do you think it will be more beneficial to get citric acid in powder form? Or just use some lime or lemon juice? I assume they’re all citric acid
    — I have hurt lime juice can you cause bacteria or mold buildup because of its organic composition but my soil is organic anyway

  11. yes I'd go the citric acid route, but have advised those in nth America to consider getting their water from a vending machine at their Walmart as its Ro, and ph'ed, or at least it was and was cheap too... lol

  12. This is what I did when I was in Florida reverse osmosis water it was available at like every gas station and you could purchase 5 gal jugs at a time. I’m pretty sure they have it at Walmart. If I have time I’ll grab it before I go and just have him use that… if not, I’ll just acidify my water w citric until I get home on the 26th early morning — I’ll head straight over to the tent. They should be ready for their first top dress feeding around that time. (this ironically perfectly will be exactly 6 weeks since they’ve popped dirt.. ) I mean, unless this is lockout — the slight burnt tips on some of the leaves are showing me that it’s definitely getting fed through the organic soil— I’m just gonna bring my pH down a little bit.. but I have to stop at Walmart so maybe I’ll see if I can grab 5 gallons of some reverse osmosis water. I’ll have to wait till I get back to add the Cal mag tho

  13. i just buy water from walmart have been doing it since i have been growing its just a cost that i absorb by growing shit tons of weed dont get carried away with juice and stuff soil will ph itself you are starting to overthink and in the end possibly make more problems carry on i am flipping with you when you get back i can wait until then

  14. That's exactly what I do. But I do add cal mag & ph it down from 7.7-7.8 from the vending machine to 5.5-6.0 citric ACID is an acid & lowers Ph. IDK who said pistils appear during the 4 week of flower??? My pistils appear 7-10 days after the flip & thats when I start counting days as flowering. right or wrong???

  15. Honestly, I’ve had some strains show pistols at like five weeks.

  16. Yeah, considering my runoff was a tad over seven I just acidified a little bit of water with a few drops of lime juice. Really all I can do because I’m leaving for Las Vegas tonight. They really looking good in my opinion.

  17. R U talking about photo's or autos? 5 weeks from what? Sorry if I'm dense.

  18. I don't get it either

  19. As soon as you flip Day 1 of flower has begun. Hopefully I’ll have a chance tonight to talk about water quality. For some reason growers focus on pH. It is merely a symptom of alkalinity (for the most part) and high pH water doesn’t necessarily mean it will increase soil pH.
