Adding Bio amendments?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Tonycalves, Mar 19, 2023.

  1. Does anyone run Bio ammendment? If so what?

A lot of nutes say for hydro use. But only way to use them is to mix then drain to waste, you can not recirculating them. I know I tryed. I tryed General Organic in a recirculating system. Compete Fail, you can not use it this way but there is no clear direction to use it on the lable. Grows wonderful in Peet, coco.

I also used NPK Industries which I like for the ability to dial every aspect of your nute. But it ain't cheap! I've been messing with recipes but don't have the "perfect" 1 yet. I used the NPK Industries as recommended on their web site for the complete individual line. Complete disaster. They have many different recipes for thier different types of nutes. You need to go with thier grow A B flower A B for recirculating systems. I haven'thad a complete grow with that yet.

I'm running Dakine420 nutes and it's between res flush is the enzymes and Bio stuff called Icky Sticky and root powder. The say you can add to your daily res but I've had problems with them adding to the regular feed cycle, Bio films muck it up. The air bubbles cause foam with them. Turning air off and using the Icky Sticky and Root powder is working fine.

I'm sure a lot of this is avoidable if you are botanist or schooled in plant science, I've gone the mad scientist route.

I have the Bioag line and that too mucks stuff up if used as directed.

Findings so far these are added regularly and have no adverse reactions in res.

Bioag Fullpower @ 10-30ml gal. I use 10 unless I see an issue, then I use more. Stuff seems great in these doses.

Proteck Silica @ 2-10ml gal. Use it @ 2ml gal but use it as PH up if I stay within 10ml gal.

NPK Vit B @ 1/8-1/4 tsp to 6 gallons as needed. This is great for plant resilience. I prune my plants right to the end and no signs of stress. You need to added it a WEEK before you start chopping, it needs a sec to get in the plant. Takes the place of Super Thrive. Used that for over 40 years.

Trying to find the right enzymes microbes amino acid mix next. Those are the 1s that muck things up in their recommended doses in recirculating systems.

Need more time and space to fully experiment with them.

On the bright side I've gotten good @ combating root rot. Saved quite a few plants I thought were lost. Bleach, H2O2, WaterMax which is an over priced something else, even used an ultra sonic cleaner.

Please share what works for you.

  2. I am not a hydro grower but you most certainly cannot run organic based nutrients in a recirculation system. That's just asking for pathogen growth and more trouble

  3. Does anybody have experience with kelp4less in a RDWC system?
