While I support him and (usually) support his ideas, this is just a little ridiculous. What could be the harm in allowing your music to reach even more people?
I will admit that it's a bit ironic considering that they made their career out of sampling other people's music (Paul's Boutique, anyone?) But I still love them, and support an artist's right to have full control over their product.
I love the Beasties. I saw them when I was 14, they were the first real concert I ever went to. Paul's Boutique is still one of my favorite albums. I imagine he was thinking that he doesn't want a computer generated Beastie Boys selling us Pepsi or whatever in ten years. Considering a few certain rhymes of MCA's, this move is unsurprising. triple trouble putting shame in your game
I saw them live at Lollapalooza 1994 in San Diego. To this day, it is still one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
