Petulant Police Refuse To 'Participate In' Medical Marijuana - Toke of the Town

Members of the Chico Police Officers' Association have revealed themselves to be some real grandstanding hot-doggers. These "public servants," the lowest-paid of whom makes $70,000 a year straight out of your taxpayer pocket, are refusing to do their jobs.

Did you know police officers got to pick which laws they enforce? Did you know these big-bellied buffoons in blue, if they personally disapprove of a law, feel entitled to ignore the damn thing? Hell, maybe we should have all gone into law enforcement, if it's that cushy a gig.

These drama queens, apparently trying to make some sort of point but mostly just ending up with "we're a bunch of unprofessional ass-bags," have sent a letter to Chico, California City Councilman Mark Sorensen stating that under federal law, they cannot be involved in any part of the city's recent commercial growing and marijuana selling ordinance.

The letter, according to KHSL, states:

The members of the Chico Police Officers' Association will not participate in any part of the medical marijuana ordinance that involves commercial marijuana growing or selling operations. We will not assist in any way in any activity that normalizes, standardizes, expedites, or assists in the establishment of facilities set up for the commercial growing and selling of marijuana. It is our sworn duty to enforce all laws regarding controlled substances, and we will continue to do so.

The association claims the city ordinance, which was opposed by the Butte County District Attorney and not supported by Chico's mayor or chief of police, violates federal law, reports the Central Valley Business Times.

Of course, these half-wit douche bags aren't expected, empowered or authorized to enforce federal law, and since they're refusing to do their jobs in a clear dereliction of duty, all of their dimwit asses should be out on the street and into the unemployment line so fast it would make their porcine heads spin.

Keep in mind, this is the same bunch of greed-heads who, last December, rejected a 5 percent pay cut which would have saved the jobs of 10 fellow police officers. So apparently, they get to pick which parts of their duties they actually perform, but heaven forbid you should mention them getting paid any less!

After that particularly unseemly episode, Jack Lee at NorCal Blogs observed, "This looks bad, guys - it looks like you are putting self interest ahead of public safety." So this propensity of theirs to do whatever they want, the public be damned, is a pattern of behavior.

The cops' letter points to a July 1 letter from U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner that warned adopting an ordinance that violated federal prohibitions against marijuana could bring federal criminal penalties on city workers whose responsibilities would include administering the ordinance.

"The problem we have as police officers is that the marijuana trade is a huge safety issue," said Will Clark, who obviously should seek another line of work, like maybe flipping burgers. "We've had home invasion robberies, we've had people shot and killed over marijuana, we've had residential burglaries, robberies, over marijuana."

What Clark didn't mention was that a good portion of the people "shot and killed over marijuana" were victims of police violence.

Clark, who taxpayers pay $140,000 a year but who still refuses to do his job if it makes him feel uncomfortable, said that the officers feel that rather than easing the problems, the new ordinance will "just make a bigger mess."

The Chico Police Officers' Association said that if any of its 89 members get their porky little hands dirty by participating in the administration or enforcement of the city's pot ordinance, "we will be breaking federal law, the oath we swore to the city, the Municipal Code of the City of Chico, and the General Orders of our department. This is not acceptable."

No, Officer Clark. What is not acceptable is when public servants -- apparently unaware of their own webpage -- feel they have the right to ignore the will of the voters, the law of the State of California, and the City Council. Your hubris and arrogance -- and your apparent feeling of entitlement in picking which laws you feel comfortable enforcing -- is vastly unbecoming, entirely unprofessional, and grounds for your immediate dismissal and unceremonious expulsion from polite society forever.

If you'd like to offer some constructive feedback to the Chico Police Officers' Association, perhaps you should "Like" their Facebook page and then leave some choice comments for them.

And if you want to offer some feedback to the Chico City Council -- as in, what are they waiting for, to fire these insubordinate sons of bitches -- here's their contact info.

IF IT BOTHERS YOU THAT OFFICERS ARE "PICKING AND CHOOSING" WHAT LAWS THEY ENFORCE... Well then DO something about it.

Please remember to be polite even as pissed off as it makes you...lol

and please make sure your spelllign is correct... (hehe... +rep if ya get this)

    Lastly...

I wonder if the Feds they are so worried about will come to their defense when they are in shit for not doing their jobs.

  2. Pathetic, these men should be met with instant dismissal but that would be in a a world of reason...

  3. You get fired for not doing your job. when a police officers union has greater power over its officers than there damn employer does... something is truly fu$%^& up. They "Boast" about their "Sworn Oath" .... TO UPHOLD THE CITY AND STATE LAWS... sounds like a whiny kid cyring for attention. Plain and simple... Fire there ass and find some people that will actually do their damn jobs.

Cushy jobs though.. 70K Salary's ... 140K Salary's ... then benefits of around 15-35K THEN possibly DOUBLING their salary with overtime... WTF... 175K+ Sorry guys Im moving to Chico and becoming a cop.....LMAO

  4. And If you can please like "Fightin for Freedoms" It is my personal page to argue on facebook. I just started it about 2 weeks ago... and I think I need a certain like before
I can pick a name perm or some shit....lol....

  5. I'm not condoning what these cops are doing but I gotta say, so far this thread sounds pretty hypocritical, I mean we criticize police for enforcing the current drug laws saying that the police are just blindly obeying their masters, then as soon as something like this happens when they choose to go against this law because of their values and morals (however skewed they may be) tell them it's wrong, it's the exact opposite.

IDK I've seen my fair share of cops doing this in support of me or a friend (just dumping the baggy and sending us on our way) what's happening in Chico is just the other end.

I'm not hatin just trying to see both sides

  6. Lol, if Local Leo was so concerned with FEDERAL law, maybe they should applied out for the Federal departments. Last time I checked, local cops were tasked with upholding state, county and municipal laws.

  7. What do they mean by "assist"

Does this mean that, if someone has tipped a disabled veteran out of his wheelchair on the floor of his dispensary and is kicking him to death, after raping his seeing eye dog and making kiddie porn with his toddler grandkids, they will not respond? Because saving him might constitute "assistance"?:(

  8. If they know anything about police work, they'd understand that they are not federal officers. Therefore they do not enforce federal laws, they enforce state laws. They are state officials. Just a bunch of bitches lol.. alot of cops are stupid, and some aren't.

Oh wait, I call that life. Stupid people and non stupid people.

  9. I think cops are probably some of the dumbest people out there... I'm not one of those "fuck da police, I hate all police!" people, but they are public servants and they should be fired for not doing there job, regardless of how they feel persoanlly.

I don't like what my boss has to say but I still follow his orders because, well, you know, he's my BOSS.

  10. Could this lead to a refusal to provide security for any other group that they find offensive-abortion clinics, Black churches, Klan rallies?

  11. The article makes a good point, but honestly, the way its written is bad. How are we supposed to have a cohesive movement if you are throwing insults like "assbag" out in an article. Please be professional and write an unbiased account of what is happening. Otherwise, you just sound like some Fox News/MSNBC-esque radical and you (and the movement) wont be taken seriously.

  12. Yeah I agree. Calling people names just shows that you are immature and you don't really make it so that people want to join your side.

"Hey let's join that group that calls people names! They seem like real stand up, mature people!"

  13. Replace the word Marijuana with any of the following: Cash, Art, Musical instruments, Jewelery. I'm sure that there are an unlimited amount of things that, if put in that sentence, would make perfect sense, yet an officer involved in a case concerning any of those would enforce whatever local laws pertained to it.

These officers should know that they are servants of the community, not of the federal government, and as such must place their reservations aside in order to protect the people who pay their salaries according to the laws which their level of government have made.

  14. Air strike inbound KABOOM :yay:

  15. Fuck our government.. Democracy is bassicly set up so ass holes like this can just shit on us and say it to our face, yet we cant do a damn thing about it.... Legally lol. When our government has no money to pay for these scumbags, then we will see whose laughing lol.... I get payed for using my brain, not to treat people like shit and enforce unjust laws or even laws that are made up lol.

Fuck the cops and fuck the government... When the free man becomes the power of our nation, thats when all of this bullshit will stop. So until then, ass holes like this will do what they want.

  16. No, democracy is a system by which the exact opposite is possible. And, in our government (a bureaucratic and representative republic), you get a chance to kick out the ass holes who shit on you. It's your own fault if the people whom you put in power cannot represent you appropriately.

These cops aren't doing there duty. However, their actions have nothing to do with the will of their government (Chico). In fact, they are defying their government.

Also, when someone is running away with your TV, and there is no one to arrest him/her and no one to try him/her, your, "fuck the cops and fuck the government," mentality will change to a, "where the fuck are the cops and government!"

  17. Bro any system can be corrupted... its human nature. Democracy isnt working so far because all the people who get elected usually get elected because they spend the most money on the advertising.. Obama got elected, and i cant even describe how much of an asshole he is... Same with Bush... So much for democracy putting the "right" people in power.

The cops said that they will not obey there state laws because at federal level marijuana is illegal.. Just read the article lol. So there doing what the federal government wants... So there not defying, there obeying.

And when someone is running away with my tv and theres no cops or government to save me.. Well ill simply grab my .357 and put justice in my own hands.

  18. There is no doubt that corruption is prevalent in our government, that's pretty obvious, but a lot of the problem that we have is a general lack of care in selection of our officials.

I read the article, and was just saying that the cops are defying their local government. They aren't federal agents, so there is no federal agenda they are obligated to obey.

  19. Well i cant vote for millions of people, most the people who vote dont even know who there really voting for.

Corruption is what im trying to do away with, what any good man would do... Thats why i hate the government, because everything that is right but our government disagrees with is usually because our government has done some corrupt bullshit.

Yea but i have no problem with the state law in California lol, most of us stoners dont have a problem at all lol... But the federal law is what fucks everything about medical marijuana laws. It truly sucks. And im very bewildered that these state police arent obeying a state law... Because there corrupt, and dont give a shit... Just like any power hungry pig.

Yea i know what you mean. I me

  20. "The problem we have is police officers and that the marijuana prohibition is a huge safety issue. We've invaded people's homes, we've robbed people of their assets and cash, we've shot and killed people over marijuana."

    Fixed.
