Has anyone ever tried? Is it a lot easier to pick, etc? I see a lot of male artists do it - John Butler, Ben Lapps, etc. Just curious to whether anyone has some knowledge to shed on it. About doing it, etc.
Ive always thought it was possible, but i guess certain techniques would be easier while others harder. Like i find it hard to tremelo without a pick, i can still do it but its more difficult. Not to mention i have to keep my nail short in order to do it otherwise i just get caught on the string.
Wouldn't it be the same as if the nail was naturally grown? I don't think it sounds any different when plucking a guitar string.

I'm just curious, because apparently it's for "hybrid picking" I'm not familiar with it. Apparently with naturally grown, you just end up with "bloody nubs"
Thickness is very important, yeah? The thicker the better?
To an extent But generally yes, the thicker the better. Easier to pick, minimal difference in sound.
So, do you do it?
Nope, haven't played in years. Used to keep my index and middle fingernails lomg, though, and had a couple buddies who kept them all long.
That's pretty cool, I'd like to try to see if it suits me at all.
It's more of an acoustic thing, I really wouldn't bother unless you're playing a lot of acoustic solos or multi-stringed choruses.
All I play at the moment is acoustic, I just got a Lag Tramontane t200ace. Real nice guitar, loving it atm and I want to start expanding my style.
