Acrylic Bongs?

Haha didn't you post something saying you we're moving over to the seasoned tokers?

 

I like the fact that he makes it a requirment to have experiance to reply to this thread.


Well there's a reason why bongs are soo popular. It's almost like a right of passage to buy your own bong.

Just do it.

 

My friend had one a while back in school, if I remember correctly it hit just fine. Obviously glass on glass is the way to go, but acrylic isn't really that bad. Just not preferred.

 

Acrylic bongs rip fine, if you get a good one it will rip very well in fact. The only thing is I recommend you clean it very often because if you leave it too long the resin tends to become part of the acrylic itself and is impossible to get out, thereby leaving a really bad smell even after you clean the bong with isopropyl alcohol. This is because acrylic has a smaller density than glass.

If you want a better bong go for a glass one. If you just want a cheap bong go for an acrylic one. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Also, you're far better using ice in an acrylic bong than liquid water, tends to eradicate smell issues somewhat and also makes for less harsh tokes from my experience.

 

^nailed it pretty much /thread. As far as taste I've noticed, it does taste a little funny at first but after using it a few times the taste goes away. Like The Third Man said, clean it often. I clean mine everyday. Probably not necessary but a bong that stinks like shit is the worst. I also put ice in mine everytime. Its a much better hit. Just my .02

 

I used an acrylic bong in high school. It worked fine, it just wasn't as pretty as my glass bong. Keep it clean

I had an acrylic for about a year at the end of high school. They rip fine like everyone says, but I would honestly rather spend $20 on a small cheap china bong or bubbler.

When I first started toking I had your mentality so I bought a cheap acrylic. Little did I know there is glass, although it is cheap glass, for the price of an acrylic.

i have two acrylics and i love em, one of them i did have to retire (becuase it was easier just to buy a new one then to clean that nasty shit),
i have a foot sized green one that hits better then my two foot glass tube
my green acryl cam with a 14 mm glass stem and bowl though, found it for less then 30 bucks,

i think it takes just a slightly longer amount of time to clear them or something, glass compared to acryl is slightly different, one isnt better then the other though for sure,

 

I disagree with this. While I won't say that acrylic is bad (it isn't), its definitely not as good, at least in my eyes, as good glass.

 

I had a purple acrylic bong for my first one. Thing ripped fine. Adding ice is alwYs the way to go, I even packed snow into it once. Pretty sweet. Its a good starter but they get boring quick, so I retired it as an extension of my glass everest, made a 4 ft monster. Thing was NASTY. regardless acrylics aren't all that bad, and not hard on the wallet. Either way you're still getting high.

 

They're definitely not. My friend had a perc'd acrylic bong for a while and it ripped like a champ. Sadly, it got broken after placing it on the floor during a game of beer pong. But I loved the thing.

 

An acrylic bong is better than no bong and will get you just as high as glass. Go for it.

 

China Glass is just as cheap as acrylic. I'd go with a china glass bub or something over an acrylic piece any day. But obviously personal preference rules over anything

I also own a nice glass bong. I get just as high and just a good of a hit off both pieces. Acrylic haters make me laugh. If u want something that will last a lifetime I highly recommend a acrylic.

When is the last time u saw a thread in toking tools for a broken acrylic? Go look at all the broken glass pieces.

Its actually funny cause 99% of the broken glass u see on GC is THICK wall glass. Glass breaks no matter what... No matter how thick it is, its still VERY fragile.
