I love in BC (Vancouver to be exact) and I'm really interested in getting an MMJ card for my and insomnia. Problem is, I don't really know how to go about getting it. So does anyone have any advice orr?? I want to be able to walk into a dispensary and go purchase marijuana but I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

  2. I'm not sure if Alberta and bc is the same, but I looked it up a while ago. You can download all the forms from the health Canada website, fill them out, have a family doctor or specialist sign it (you should get them a release form as well especially to make them feel more at ease about it). Then send it in and wait for a response.
You can also apply to grow your own or as a caregiver but you have to get the growing place approved.
Go in prepared and ready to talk about how it helps compared to what they have prescribed. The problem with a lot of doctors is that they are just ignorant about the use of an illegal drug as medicine. I'd print off a bunch of legitimate studies on the subject and bring them in for your doctor to look over.
It would be nice to be able to medicate without worrying about the law. Good luck!

  3. Thanks! What I'm confused about is the fact that when I go to a dispensary's website, they give me the form to print off instead of the Health Canada one. Like for example, on one dispensaries website, they say all I need to do is

    1) print off this form: http://www.urbanearthmed.com/files/Practitioners_Recommendation_for_Medical_Cannabis.pdf and get it signed by a physician

2)Once your health care practitioner has filled out the Practitioner’s Recommendation form and faxed it to our office, you must then provide 2 pieces of government issued I.D

3)Fill out the Urban Earth Med Membership Application and UEM Code of Conduct.

    4)Congratulations you are a member!

But Health Canada makes it sound like such a much more difficult and long process to obtain Medical Marijuana. Why is that?

  4. Again I'm not sure if its different in bc, but health Canada is a part of the government so it's not going to be a speedy process haha. It seems like the difference is that with health Canada you obtain a license to use it, but with this they just let you buy from the dispensary.

  5. So would I technically not be legally buying/using cannabis since I don't have a license from Health Canada? :p

  6. I'm no expert but that's my understanding of it.
But being in Vancouver I probably wouldn't even worry about it haha.

Thnx. And a few more question... Do you think the doctor will laugh at me if I say I need Medical Marijuana for something as small as insomnia? Also, I've been using over the counter supplements to try to help my sleep problems (melatonin) but I've never been prescribed actual sleeping medication. However, I don't want to be prescribed any actual sleeping medication seeing as I already know marijuana works for me and it is a lot more natural than a man made medication that I can over dose on... I've heard I need to try some medications for my condition before I can get my medical marijuana. Is that true? And if so, if I don't want to try any of the traditional sleeping medications, will that prevent me from being able to get medical marijuana?

My LAST question: I'm only 18 years old. Since I'm only 18 years old, will my doctor see me as a kid that just wants to party and smoke weed? That absolutely isn't the case seeing as I don't even smoke socially and I just do so so that I can sleep. But will they see me as that and not take me seriously?

  8. If you've had no previous documented visits bc of insomnia and have tried different prescriptions you MIGHT have had an argument. But from what I'm reading you've always just toked to sleep. They nEed documentation
Plus the fact that your 18 and immediately say pot works.is going to turn them away faster.
Good luck homie you'll need it

  9. I'm Canadian, Nova Scotia, and I'm pretty sure the Health Canada forms are meant for ordering it through the mail which used to be the only way you could legally get it without growing. I may be wrong but I think right now we don't use an actual green card but just have it prescribed and on record unless we are growing.

    Signed,

    Guy without a card.

  10. Just walk into eden and talk to their in-store doctor should be easy.
