“When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you.†~Friedrich Nietzsche~ I was musing the other day about weird stuff; mostly I was just pondering our being here. From time to time I'll literally be held in a trance as I try to wrap my brain around the impossibility of us, our world, and this ever present life. Before we were born there was nothing but an abyss of nothingness. Life was still going on but we weren't connected to it, our existence was carefully hinged upon the moment of will our folks meet, connect, and procreate? Anything before that is not life but the possibility of it = OBLIVION. Yeah, I get that sorta shit rolling around in me when I least suspect it. I'll be standing in line at the grocery store and be suddenly assaulted by the enormity of everything. Ugh, anyway… Just ahead of us, if we're so blessed to be alive is the abyss waiting again to embrace and take us back into sweet nothingness. For a brief bright shining moment in all of existence we have been given the chance to live, work the earth, and dream into the sky. We are always one heartbeat away from the abyss, one breath, one touch, one kiss… When I conceptualize life in this way, I begin to see the connection of all things, matter, and substance. To be alive is to be one with the universe, to be of it and a vital component in a timeless organism. To be alive is to have a moment frozen yet moving in time. Maybe having a soul isn't the all important thing, what if living and having this very second is all you'll ever be? I say and ask all this to communicate the beginning is in realizing what the end is. P.s. Oh yeah, I forgot to say transcend. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - dot - dot - dot word. Stay green.
